A patron, Larry Taylor, is unhappy with the Library because of the move of the westerns into non-fiction. The use
of Westerns is very low. In August 2004 37,423 items were check out of the Library and 106 were Westerns,in
September out of the 35,537 checked out 64 were Westerns, and in October out of the 36, 663 checked out 74 were
Westerns. We notified the public of the move and listed all western writers.
Unique Management has proven to be very good in retrieving items and fines. We submitted over 900 accounts and
728 accounts have been processed. The value of the materials recovered is over$21,000.
Karan reported that we had 17 volunteers for a total of 154 volunteer hours. In addition to the early voting we had 4
events with a total of 152 in attendance.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
1. A motion was made to write a letter to the City Council recommending renaming the Library Meeting
Room.
2. Cleaning/Bathroom issue: Facilities advised us that at this time of year there is not adequate ventilation in
the bathrooms. If necessary we can put in exhaust. We will keep doors open during the hours we are not
open and see if this helps.
3. Drainage on the east side of the building: Parks to be contacted on the completion date.
4. Check on the percent of items that are not retrievable with Unique Management.
• NEW BUSINESS:
1. Kate Lyon will be returning to the Library Board for 2005
2. The Library Board will meet in December. Everyone to bring their favorite holiday sweet to share.
