October 7, 2004
Chairman Barney Snitz called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

DISPOSITION OF THE MINUTES:
The Chairman asked for a motion to be made to accept the September minutes. Marcia Brown made the motion to
accept the minutes, and Adriane Weinstein seconded the motion.
REPORT FROM THE LIBRARY ADMINISTRATOR:
Chris Dennis,Librarian III,gave the Library report for JoAnn Rogers. JoAnn is on vacation and Sherry Knight,
Assistant Library Administrator was representing the Library at another meeting.
Chris reports that the City has worked hard to improve the library grounds. Drainage issue has been taken care of
on the north and west side of the building. All bids were not received in time to take care of the drainage issue on
the east side of the building,but the City is anxious to have the work completed early in the new year.
Meeting-Room: New carpet has been installed. Early voting to start on October 16,2004 in the Meeting Room and
continue through October 29,2004.
Behavior issues with the after school children has improved with the "patrol"plan implemented by the staff.
Statistics: Library visits: 23, 388
Items Checked Out: 35, 537
Program Attendance: 1,107
Chris would like to see SCORE better promoted. Charlie Miller said this program was very beneficial to him when
he first started his company.
Vickie Miller and Marilyn Johnston will receive their 5-year Service Pins at the October 12 City Council Meeting.
On October 11`h the Fort Worth Children's Opera will present"The Rabbits and the Coyotes"in the Library at 7pm.
On October 16th the Crud Cruiser will be in the Library parking lot starting at 10:00a.m.
Friends of the Library had a very successful book sale, over$2000.00,in September.
Chris gave a presentation on library services that are available on-line and an Answer Zone demonstration.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
1. Parking Lot stripes will be done after October 1 with other city projects
2. Willie Mae McCormick health
3. When will the dedication plate be ready to put on Lloyd's bench
4. Re-naming the Meeting Room in the Library in honor of Willie Mae McCormick
NEW BUSINESS:
1. Betty Fuller pointed out a"sinkhole"in the flower bed on the east side of the building.
2. Betty Fuller pointed out the ladies public bathroom does not appear to be clean and has an odor. She noted
that when she visits other Libraries their bathrooms are always nice and she would like to see the same
thing in our Library.
3. Charlie Miller asked that we contact Facilities to work with the janitors on the issue of the bathrooms.
4. Casino Night is November 6,2004 at the Texas Star
5. Boards and Commission Dinner is November 15, 2004
6. The Board would like to honor Willie Mae McCormick by re-naming the Meeting Room. Charlie Miller
asked that a letter to be sent to the Council making this request.
CITIZEN INPUT:
Charlie Miller, City Councilman Place 4, gave an update on the progress of refinishing the old Furr's Cafeteria for
ACME Brick. They have had a few set backs and are not able to open as soon as they had planned.
Nothing to report, at this time, on the status of the groups looking at the K-Mart building.
ADJOURNMENT:
The Chairman asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made by LuAnn Portugal and seconded by Betty
Fuller. The meeting was adjourned at 8:35 p.m.
