REPORT FROM THE LIBRARY ADMINISTRATOR:
JoAnn handed out monthly report that revealed we had 33,458 items checked out this month. The Annual
Circulation and Annual Library Visit charts indicate a constant and steady growth from 1999 to the present.
JoAnn reports that our Outreach Program with Beverly McCalmont is growing. In addition to working at Twin
Bridge she has worked with Westpark Nursing Home to place books and magazines for the residents. It has been
very well received. The Books on Wheels program has eight people participating. Beverly is also working with the
Talking Book Program. This program is offered free to people with physical restrictions, and has been proven to be
effective with people learning restrictions such as dyslexia.
Our new employee in the Youth Department, Linda Evers,is doing a wonderful job working the children after
school. She does crafts, puzzles, games, and shows movies.
We have a display by the fish tank for anyone wanting to help"Support our Troops." We had a phone call from a
woman in Euless that has a son in Iraq. She is asking for help to send over items the troops need. The items needed
are posted on the list above the boxes.
Judi Knight and other volunteers with Mid Cities Genealogy Society are working with 12 honor students at South
Euless Junior High School to do family history. They will be meeting in the Library on Friday evenings to do a
family tree. The Library will provide food and drinks.
Karan reports that even with early voting in the Meeting Room we still had 10 events in the room with an attendance
of over 400 people. We had the Fort Worth Children's Opera perform"Little Red's Most Unusual Day"in the main
Library with over 130 in attendance. Also this month we will have another artist demonstration. Bruce Peil, the
artist, will be in the main Library on May 10th at 7:30pm. On May 27th we have an author event with Margot Fusser
Blewett talking about her book"Feet in the Fire." This will be at 7:00pm in the Conference Room.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
NEW BUSINESS:
1. JoAnn asked that everyone go into an area of the Library that you do not normally visit. She wants
everyone to find something in that area you did not realize we owned. She will ask at the next meeting
what you found.
2. Mike McGehee reported on the`Blooms of Enlightenment"art project for the Library. There are some
changes in the design due to engineering concerns for the safety of the art work. The new design is a big
change but equally beautiful. There is a Garden Reception on May 20th at Frances and Pete Allen's home
to celebrate the Euless Library Foundation successes with the project.
CITIZEN INPUT: None
ADJOURNMENT:
The Chairman asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made by Kathy Grove and seconded by Barney Snitz.
