Chairman Mike McGehee called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m.

DISPOSITION OF THE MINUTES:
The Chairman asked for a motion to be made to accept the January minutes with the correction of Chris Dennis,
Librarian III. Barney Snitz made the motion to accept the minutes with the correction,and Betty Fuller seconded
the motion.
REPORT FROM THE LIBRARY ADMINISTRATOR:
JoAnn Rogers reported that Sherry Knight,Barney Snitz, and Betty Fuller will be going with her to the North Texas
Regional System Assembly Meeting on February 18th.
The Answer Zone is available until midnight,seven days per week. This has proven to be a very positive
environment for students answering all types of questions.
Circulation figures up over last year. The door count for January 2004 was 21,000. Lost and paid collections went
from$300 to$600 last month.
Upcoming events in the Library:
Monday,February 9th—Derrick Sledge watercolor demonstration 7pm
Monday,February 16th—Seem To Be Players present"Tales of Tom Sawyer"7pm
1S`Monday of each month—IRS Volunteers do income tax preparation for the retired/needy
2°d and 4th Tuesday of each month—SCORE meets in the Board Room starting at 4pm
Friends of the Library Book Sale is March 12-14 in the Meeting Room
Krissy Conn has been doing projects for the library as part of a class assignment.
JoAnn handed out a survey"What's A Library Suppose To Be?"with an article"Why Libraries Matter." Survey
due back to JoAnn at the March Library Board Meeting.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
1. Study Room Survey: We had a total of 30 responses and we are studying these and will have results and
recommendations at the next meeting. We would like to add an area in the Library with"2 people"study
rooms that would be temporary until other space is finished out.
2. Sherry Knight is the new Assistant Library Administrator.
3. Beverly McCalmont and Chris Dennis really connecting to the patrons.
4. Behavior issues are being addressed strongly by staff with the assistance of Officer Landers of the Euless
Police Department. Some children are distracting,disruptive and destructive. Children who are loitering
or not using the Library properly will be asked to leave. Weather or waiting on rides are not excuses for
hanging around the library.
5. The City Attorney is looking at the handout we have to send home to parents with children that are
problems at the library.
NEW BUSINESS:
1. Paula Myers working with children after school to send Valentines to the troops overseas. We have had
over 200 valentines prepared by the kids.
2. Adriane Weinstein appointed to represent the Library Board with the Library Foundation.
CITIZEN INPUT:
1. Alex Horton spoke about needing volunteers to help with getting the signatures to put wine sales on the ballot in
September.
ADJOURNMENT:
The Chairman asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made by LuAnn Portugaland seconded by Barney
Snitz. The meeting was adjourned at 8:33 p.m.
