November 6, 2003
Chairman Mike McGehee called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m in the Teen Program Room.

DISPOSITION OF THE MINUTES:
The Chairman asked for a motion to be made to accept the October minutes with the correction of the spelling of
"Lone Star"to"Loan Star". Barney Snitz made the motion to accept the minutes, and Adriane Weinstein seconded
the motion.
REPORT FROM THE LIBRARY ADMINISTRATOR:
JoAnn Rogers reported that the numbers for the Library continue to increase. The monthly report has been changed
to a graph chart that should give a better understanding of our monthly figures of traffic and Circulation numbers.
We had 623 attend youth programming,Halloween Thing had over 400 in attendance, SCORE had 31 in
attendances, and Karan had 5 volunteers this month working over 200 hours.
Polaris upgrade to 3.0 offers Acquisition Tracking to assist with our budget tracking,Patron Reading History,Patron
Authentication, and Answer Zone interfaces with Polaris. Security Audit went very well. The consultant was very
impressed with our procedures we have in place. XP is helping with our security needs.
We have a high level of"after school"children coming through the Library and noise is a daily issue. We continue
to strive to make things better with our"Noise Issue."
JoAnn, Sherry Knight, and Tammi Trull attended the Living Leadership Seminar at UTA on November 5t.
Employee News: Sheila Williams has decided to retire on November 19th and return to Oklahoma to be with her
family. On Tuesday,November 11th there will be a City Reception for her in the Conference Room from 11:00am
to 1:00pm, and the Library Staff is having a breakfast for her on November 12`h at 9:00am.
Chris Dennis will start on November 24th in the position of Librarian II/Adult Services Supervisor, Beverly
McCalmont will start on November 13th in the position of Librarian I,and Shannon Oram has signed up to work on
her MLS.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
1. Figures on the dollar amount of outstanding fines
2. Trash on the Library grounds: Barney suggested that everyone stop and pick up trash to possibly
influence others to do the same. Marcia Brown advised that the same problem is happening at Trinity
High School.
3. Dan Clark Survey still in the works.
NEW BUSINESS:
1. Mike McGehee retires from Scottish Rite Hospital this month. Congratulations Mike!!
2. Casino Night is November 15,2003 at the Texas Star. The Euless Library Foundation needs volunteers for
the evening. Sign up sheets at Karan's desk.
3. Library Plant Maintenance Committee is working hard to get supplies together and new plants for the
building. The committee members are: Paula Myers,Jennifer Miller,Leticia Villegas,and Ellen Collins.
4. Parking Lot needs to new stripes painted.
5. JoAnn Rogers to Austin for a Public Library Task Force study with Texas State Library.
ADJOURNMENT:
The Chairman asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made by Marcia Brown and seconded by LuAnn
Portugal. The meeting was adjourned at 8:20 p.m.
