JoAnn introduced Kelly Sobozak Cline and Roxanne Plamondon to the Library Board. Kelly was hired with grant
funding for Twin Bridge Library. Kelly reports that the Friends of the Library purchased bookshelves and lanyards.
Each library card that is issued is attached to a lanyard. Kelly reports fourteen children signed up for the Summer
Reading Club at Twin Bridge.program, and the apartment management company will sponsor an ice cream party
for the children. We have approximately 15-25 patrons daily at the Library. Normal hours are 3:30pm to 6:30pm
but the summer hours are from to 2:00pm to 5:00pm Monday through Friday.
Roxanne Plamondon is the Manager at Twin Bridge Apartments and has been very instrumental in the
implementation of the mini-library. The owners of the apartments have donated the space, pay for the utilities, put
in an alarm system with monitored motion detection, and offer the services of the maintenance department.
Roxanne reports that vandalism is down and she has children from the apartments waiting every morning to see
what time the library will open. The apartment has a complex curfew that is enforced. Children under the age of 18
years have to be in their apartment by 8:00pm on school nights and 9:30pm on the weekends.
Sherry Knight reports that she had a very good meeting with Catholic Charities regarding their ESL services at Twin
Bridge. They will work with the immigrants to help with communication and proficiency in the English language as
well as their own language. The Library will support Catholic Charities and their efforts. We have added ESL
testing software to one computer and we are working on more resources for adults.
Karan Jasper has written a letter to Home Depot asking their help with a park bench and decorative planters for the
entry to the Library at Twin Bridge.
JoAnn Rogers reports at Euless Public Library the landscaping has been evaluated by Ray McDonald and Johnnie
Green since our last meeting. The irrigation system has been repaired and the Parks Department pickup on Monday,
Wednesday and Friday. Karan had a Teen Court Volunteer here for two weeks and he picked up the trash and
cleaned the walkways, and the Parks Department cleaned the walkways with the pressure sprayer. We have added a
coffee service for the public in the Reference Department that is a big success. The Summer Reading Club has 430
signed up and Shannon Oram has 110 Junior Volunteers. The summer programs have been a huge success with
high attendance at each event.
