Alex Horton made the motion to accept the minutes as presented, and LuAnn Portugal seconded the motion. The motion was passed, and the minutes stand as presented. REPORTS FROM THE LIBRARY ADMINISTRATOR: July, 2002 GENERAL REPORT Items Circulated 39737 Library Accounts 47003 Visits to the Library 21736 Reference Assistance Reference 3121 Directional 1707 Computer Related 1053 Total 5881 Computer Usage Word Processing Users 1050 Hours Used 787 Internet/Database Users 7754 Hours Used 2913 Program Attendance Adult 1681 Youth 1801 Total 3482 Library Holdings 98287 Additional Comments from JoAnn Rogers: The circulation record was broken again as July had the highest circulation ever! A lot of media is being checked out as well as books. In honor of its 6th birthday, the Library brought in a variety of programming. Brave Combo brought in well over 500 attendees, and the Fort Worth Zoo program brought in almost 200. The computers were reconfigured after Brave Combo was here. Not only is the public responding well to the change, but it also makes it better for the Staff to monitor them. The Tech Team had no problem moving the eight computers out for the show and then having them set back up by 10:00 a.m. the next morning. The Library received the L.S.T.A. Grant for $33,500.00 to provide Library services in South Euless at the Twin Bridges (Apartments) Library. In addition to getting four computers, the Euless Library will provide someone at the Twin Bridges Library for 10 hours/week. Maria Cameron turned in her resignation. The schedule has been rearranged, and everyone is pitching in and offering to help whenever and wherever needed. The Library will start doing inventory on Monday as August is a slow month. JoAnn has a fun plan for everyone in the building to pitch in. The goal is to get the inventory done in two weeks by working on it from 8:30 to 11:00 everyday before they get busy. Using the State Direct Aid funds, the Library purchased a print management system (LPTOne). The Library will implement a pay before you print policy this fall with three copies being free. The Staff researched this system by going to the Arlington Library to see how it works. The Staff also went to the Irving Library to see about putting reserved books out on the floor for patrons to pickup. The spine will not show, and someone else cannot check out the reserved book. The reserved books will be placed by the check out. The Irving Library has been doing this for years, and the Plano Library has been doing it for approximately 10 years. UNFINISHED BUSINESS: JoAnn will provide a break down of demographics regarding how many patrons are from Euless and how many are from other cities. This will be easy to do when the Library gets its computer upgrade. Kazan is researching the type of nametags best suited for the Staff. NEW AND MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS: The computers in the Genealogy Section have a 21"monitor. Cataloging the Library Genealogy Collection is put on hold until the fall. The Euless Fire Department is looking for applicants for the Citizens Fire Academy Training which meets on Thursdays. If anyone on the Board wants to volunteer, you may be excused from Board Meetings. ADJOURNMENT: The Acting Chairman asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made to adjourn by Alex Horton and seconded by Betty Fuller. The meeting was adjourned at 7:53 p.m. Respectfully Submitted Kathy ove Euless Library Board Secretary
