Barney Snitz made the motion to accept the minutes as presented, and LuAnn Portugal seconded the motion. The motion was passed, and the minutes were approved as presented. REPORTS FROM THE LIBRARY ADMINISTRATOR: No statistics nor handouts this month. The Library Board will get them all at the regular meeting in February. Instead, JoAnn went over the Library's funding and programming for the new year. Besides receiving funding from the City's General Fund and the Half-Cent Fund, the Library also receives funds from other sources such as the Library Foundation, the Friends of the Euless Library, the Texas Book Festival Grant, Personal Donations, TIF Grants, and for the first time ever, State Direct Aid from the Loan Star Libraries. The Library's Budget shall be discussed in more detail at the March meeting. There will be six Masterworks Programs this year, the annual Summer Reading Program, and a Birthday Celebration for the Library in July. To meet the Public's needs, the Library is staffed with 30 employees(15 full-time and 15 part-time) and is open every day of the week for a total of 59 hours a week. It is remarkable and commendable what the Library is able to do with its available resources. UNFINISHED BUSINESS: A response was sent to Dan Clark who wrote a letter to the Library Board Members and City Leaders in October, 2001 regarding the study room policy. Mr. Clark has been back to the Library several times, and the study room policy has been re-evaluated and re-vamped. The Election of Officers was held for 2002. Mike McGehee was nominated to continue as Chairman as was Barney Snitz for Vice-Chairman and Kathy Grove for Secretary. All were unanimously elected. NEW AND MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS: None. CITIZEN INPUT: None. ADJOURNMENT: The Special Orientation Meeting ended at 7:15 p.m., and the Library Board went on an Orientation Tour of the Library with JoAnn, Kerry, Sherry, and Karan as our Guides.
