Theater. His ideas are in the conceptual stage and he is in the process of presenting his ideas to
different groups within the city, seeking support and input from people interested in the best for
Euless and active within the city. The board held a thirty-minute discussion following this
presentation and could not come up with a consensus. The board has decided to table further
discussion on this plan at this time.

living memorial for Bruce Williams is nice idea as Sheila, with the constant support of Bruce
have made many changes with the growth and expansion of the library's position in the
community through technology. Leon also expressed that the council is heading into a planned
very productive weeklong retreat to complete the city budget process and things are looking
good for the phase two planning of the Texas Star.

Additional Comments from JoAnn Rogers:
The Library's weeklong birthday event was considered a success by all that attended the many
planned events. The occasion brought in more than 500 people during the week's diverse
activities. Several letters of gratitude were sent to the library thanking all for their work at such
a wonderfully entertaining and cultural week. A record circulation of 30,298 also occurred
during this time — challenging staff to work harder than ever. Sheila Williams's husband passed
away during the month and a lunch was provided by staff in support of Sheila.
A $100,000 Tiff Grant was applied for with Sherry Moeller and JoAnn finishing up the work that
Sheila Williams worked so diligently on. One of the many things on the wish list for the Tiff
Grant is a digital camera along with many other electronic upgrades. The air conditioner has
been under repairs for the past two weeks with parts finally being ordered and replaced.
A new group to the Euless library has accepted an invitation to present a once a month seminar
for aspiring business people. The organization is known as SCORE and it comprises of retired
business executives which council new businesses and offers a private session to review and
advise with a business plan. A new brochure promoting the library has been developed and will
be distributed at local Junior and Senior High School resource offices. The library and staff
would like to develop a new logo for the library. Staff is now wearing nametags.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
The board formally welcomed two of its three new alternates by individual introductions with
Barney Snitz explaining a few of the fundamentals and expectations to the new board members.
The aquarium is still being worked on, but the owner of the company that is providing the
service is optimistic it will soon be up and running again.
The expansion and utilization of the rest of the library building is a part of a five-year plan with a
feasibility study recommended. The youth area is already in the plan to finish out in 2002.
The police department has supported the youth discipline policy by using compassion and
support and the teaching of children the proper behavior in public buildings. There are three
basic rules at the library: no running, pushing or yelling.
NEW AND MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS:
Mike McGehee has suggested a memorial for Sheila Williams's husband. The board was asked
to think about what would be most appropriate. The five-year birthday celebration was
outstanding. Grammy award winning band Brave Combo played a wonderful two set concert in
the library enticing the audience to participate and fully enjoy the evening.
CITIZEN INPUT:
None.
ADJOURNMENT:
The Acting Chairman asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made by Alex Horton and
seconded by Kate Lyon. The meeting was adjourned at 9:08 p.m.
