Procedures for use by the Public are being worked on. • The Library has started an Employee Recognition Committee with the recipient being named Employee of the Quarter and getting a designated parking spot. • Work continues on the final report for the T.I.F. Grant (for the 30 computers) which needs to be done by September. The Library Budget will be coming up before City Council. Besides dividers to use in the Meeting Room, the Library is also asking for four part-time positions to be combined into two full-time positions. The Library had a record breaking day the day after Memorial Day with 20% higher circulation than the previous record from opening day. • Now that school is out, the summer storytime attendance has greatly increased, and the Summer Reading Club is off to a great start with 508 children signing up the first week. The Library has signed up 75 Junior Volunteers with 58 already hard at work. UNFINISHED BUSINESS: Four Alternates for the Library Board were appointed by the City Council. They are Kate Lyon, Gracie Reyes, Marcia Brown, and Toutai Kautai. The Library welcomed them to the Board by presenting all Board Members with a long-stemmed rose and a patriotic pinwheel. As an Alternate, the only duty that cannot be done is to be an elected official as Alternates do have voting rights. Congratulations and welcome to the Board! A Proclamation for the Library's Birthday in July will be read at the City Council Meeting on June 26th. The Library's Birthday will be celebrated from Friday July 20`h through Friday July 27t. JoAnn is still needing Volunteers and will be in touch with the Library Board Members. The discipline procedure is working well, and the Library has had wonderful cooperation from the Police Department whose members are quick to respond and work very well with children. Some of the Officers have even gone to children's homes and talked with their parents. Euless is very fortunate to have the Police Department we have (and don't forget to buy your bricks). While the Air Conditioning is fixed, the Aquarium has two leaks in it so it had to be emptied. It will be rebuilt and will be able to accommodate sand on the bottom. NEW AND MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS: The Library Foundation's general meeting will be held on June 18th with a free landscaping program from Randy Weston of Weston Gardens. The Foundation is continuing to work on Casino Night which will be held on November 3`d. The location has not been determined yet. The North Richland Hills Library Board is coming to the Library this evening for a tour. As there have been so many requests for tours, the Library has come up with an Information Sheet on the Euless Public Library to hand out. The information provided is diverse and covers building statistics and cost, furniture information and cost, vendor information, and population information. Remember: There is no Library Board Meeting in July. CITIZEN INPUT: None. ADJOURNMENT: The Acting Chairman asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made by Betty Fuller and seconded by LuAnn Portugal. The meeting was adjourned at 7:57 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Kathy Grove Euless Library Board Secretary
