DISPOSITION OF THE MINUTES: The Chairman asked for a motion to be made to accept the minutes as prepared. Barney Snitz made the motion to accept the minutes as prepared, and LuAnn Portugal seconded the motion. Worth • Murder Mystery at the Library • HEB Rotary Club Meeting • Texas Library Association in San Antonio • NETLS Meeting in Sherman PUBLIC SERVICES ACTIVITIES • Jeanne Green presented a program for "Fun Seeker" group at First United Methodist Church. • Kerry McGeath visited several area apai intent complexes as part of the HEB/Oakwood Terrace Community Outreach Program. He also mentors two at-risk youths as part of this program. • Fire Extinguisher and Emergency Preparedness Training with the EFD. • Kerry McGeath and JoAnn Rogers attended the NETLS System Meeting and presented a program about marketing and libraries to approximately 150 attendees. • A St. Patrick's Day Celebration was held in the library. • Kerry McGeath and Staff visited North Richland Hills and Keller libraries as part of continuing customer service and marketing program. • Jeanne Green visited L.D. Bell, Trinity, and Keys High Schools to develop outreach programs in the area high schools. • Ellen Collins was awarded City Employee for February and received her award at the March 14th City Council Meeting. Additional comments from Sheila Williams: There are now two additional notaries on the Library Staff making a total of four notaries available for the Patrons. • The Library implemented the Raving Fan shelf reading plan so that everything Walks the Talk. • Librarians from Lewisville's and Grand Prairie's Public Libraries came to observe and learn from our fine acquisitions/acquisitions/cataloging operation. • Becky Moren has been reassigned to computer support and is doing an outstanding job. • Sherry Moeller and Kerry McGeath gave three tours to the Haltom City Library Director and Library Board Members as they are building a new building. Additional comments from Kerry McGeath: A new form has been developed for warning and suspending unruly children. The Library has been doing this for a month now. The Library does not want to chase children away,but it does want them to practice acceptable behavior and to learn acceptable limits. •The Fort Worth Opera will be performing"Cinderella" April 9`h. • The Library is working with the City of Euless to get information from the newsletter to them before the newsletter comes out so they can get the information on the city's cable channel. • Early voting is held in the meeting room which ties up -- the Meeting Room for three weeks, it was suggested the Meeting Room needs to be partitioned like the Texas Star. This way the room could be divided into two or three separate rooms as needed. •The Library is also trying to coordinate programs offered by the City's Parks and Recreation Department. UNFINISHED BUSINESS: The Library is planning an Open House/Birthday Party in July to celebrate the Library's fifth year in the new building. JoAnn is looking for a volunteer from the Library Board or the Library Foundation to work with her. If anyone is interested,please let her know at the May meeting. The Alternates for the Library Board will be announced at the City Council Meeting on April 24t. NEW AND MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS: None. CITIZEN INPUT: None.
