Additional comments from Sheila Williams in JoAnn Rogers' absence while she attended the Euless Town Hall Meeting: The Friends of the Euless Library will be holding their semi-annual book sale on March 9, 10, and 11. In conjunction with the book sale, the Library will host a Book Sale Festival with Logan the Juggler, Safari Sue, and the Mid-Cities Genealogical Society Bake Sale on Saturday, and Dennis Farris the sculptor on Sunday. The times are listed in the Euless Public Library news letter. Anyone who can volunteer for the book sale is encouraged to call NorAnn Lustfield at 354-4434. The Euless Library Foundation will host Murder in the Library . . . Chapter Two on Saturday, March 24 at 6:00 with a buffet dinner beginning at 6:30 from Verna's Café. The Library Foundation will also have a silent auction with members of the Foundation offering their services or making things. Additional information is included in the news letter. Ellen Collins, who works the Reference Desk, has been chosen as the City of Euless' Employee of the Month. She will be recognized at the next City Council meeting on March 15. Please plan to attend to honor Ellen. Sheila recently attended a Government Technology Conference in Austin and was the only Librarian in attendance. As the focus of the conference was on local, state, and federal government, Sheila brought back information which she thought might be of interest to other areas and departments of the City of Euless as well as to the Library. She came back with fresh ideas for the City's Web Master with whom she is working to make the pages Citizen based rather than Agency based. JoAnn also went to Austin for Legislative Days, and Kerry is working with Oakwood Terrace Elementary. We hope to hear more from them later. The kick off for next year's City Budget was today and is due mid-April. The City Council has requested a five year budget from the Library. As we did last year, the Library Board is once again encouraged to support the Library Board at the City Council meetings. The Library Board was also encouraged to write letters to the Editor and the Cheers section of the Star Telegram about the wonderful programs and other good things happening at the Library. Kerry and his people have made new signs to display around the Library. The signs are in acrylic stands, and they provide information regarding Library services and programs. UNFINISHED BUSINESS: As of yet, there is no new information regarding the Open House the Library would like to host for the City Council, the Library Foundation, the Friends, and the Library Board. There are three applications for the alternate positions on the Library Board. It is possible we may get our new members within the next two months. As for replacing JoAnn's secretary, she is going through applications. He is also working on the trails of Euless with Alex Horton and Kathy Grove in conjunction with the Parks and Leisure Services Board and Rick Herold and his staff. It was also suggested the Library market special events better to remind people the Library is a source of information no matter what the subject. One way to do this is by putting Library displays(such as Black History Month in February and other ALA promotions)in public areas around the City. This would give the Library exposure to people who don't come to the Library. CITIZEN INPUT: None. ADJOURNMENT: The Chairman asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made by Betty Fuller and seconded by Barney Snitz. The meeting was adjourned at 8:12 Respectfully submitted, Kathy ove Euless Library Board Secretary
