Rick Herold sent a note of thanks to JoAnn and her staff for their hard work with Arbor Daze.
JoAnn thanks the Board for their help with Arbor Daze. The Library assisted over ninety
vendors getting situated for the festival and also managed the Art contest. JoAnn and staff would
like to volunteer and support the information booth at next year's event. A reception to recognize
the winners of the poster art contest is planned at the library.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
The Texas Library Association's meeting is planned for this month with our own Sheila Williams
actively working on the program committee.
A software upgrade is recommended for the library computers versus a complete new system.
The upgrade is more Windows-based and `user friendly'. The city's Information and
Technology department has been very supportive of the library. Two computers that were
reported broken were repaired and up and running within one week. The new genealogy
computer is now available and in use.
NEW AND MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS:
The city of Colleyville has written the library a letter suggesting a possibility of a partnership.
Many ideas can be shared and they are considering outsourcing some of their services for
example, acquisitions and processing. JoAnn is looking into the possibilities of teaming with
Colleyville.
The drive up window is now in full operation and is available three days a week. Free Notary
service also begins in May.
Friends of the Library have voted to fund$1,000 to continue their support of Youth Services.
Mike McGehee inquired about the two outdoor sculpture pieces being insured. JoAnn agreed to
check with risk management to get a better understanding how we are covered.
Barney Snitz and his wife visited the main library in Irving and came back with lots of written
suggestions and opinions that we may be able to apply at the Euless Library. JoAnn encourages
and actively supports input and new ideas that come from such visits and evaluations.
It was suggested that the Library be used as a source for voting information, possibly setting up
an information table on political issues, using a League of Woman Voters format for information.
Adult programming attendance is being reviewed. Suggestions for increasing visibility and
bringing adults into the library were submitted. Voting held at the library brought many people
in that do not ordinarily visit our facilities. Holding regular Town Hall type meetings were
suggested.
`Murder in The Library', a murder mystery dinner theater that is in part supported by the Euless
Library Foundation appears to be evoking community interest. Ticket sales appear to be going
well. The Library is looking forward to promoting visibility to even more citizens.
The Foundation is also developing a three-year plan to complete the library's sculpture garden.
Kathy Grove is welcomed back next month after her three-month commitment with the Citizens
Police Academy.
CITIZEN INPUT:
None.
ADJOURNMENT:
Mike McGehee asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made by Wes Scott and seconded
by Alex Horton. The meeting was adjourned at 8:45 p.m.
