SPECIAL GUEST OF THE BOARD:
Betty Yarbrough was invited to the Board Meeting to give her thoughts regarding the 8000
square feet of unfinished space in the Library. Betty reminded us that when the new Library was
being discussed about 6 years ago,it was decided Euless would not need a Branch Library
because just about everybody is approximately 2.5 miles away from the Library. Therefore, the
Architects made one big block of space which could be used in increments. The only thing
separating the finished section of the Library from the restrooms to the Teen Point is drywall. In
developing this area,we need to define which Library programs need more space, and what kind
of services do we envision. After taking a tour throughout the Library, the Board recommends:
JoAnn and her Staff to submit their ideas for utilization of space(e.g. what programs they
envision, how to solve problems regarding space, and if the Staff could have whatever they
wanted, what do they want for themselves and the patrons?).
DISPOSITION OF THE MINUTES:
Mike McGehee asked for a motion to be made to accept the minutes as questioned regarding the

UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
The City Council approved additional funds for collection development and for a Drive-up
Window. The Drive-up Window is targeted to be completed in January.
The Friends of the Library made $1000.00 at their book sale in September. Its success is
attributed to being held the same weekend as the Mid-Cities Genealogical Society's book and
bake sales along with numerous children's activities.
The business collection is still being analyzed along with the entire library collection.
Mike McGehee is working to finalize a work session on the library expansion to be held at the
beginning of next year.
It was again noted that the north end of the library needs landscaping and that the fish tank
doesn't identify the fish and coral in it yet.
Sherry Moeller gave the Board an update regarding the ongoing efforts of the Library Staff to
meet the 10 Customer Service issues discussed in June.
NEW AND MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS:
The Library is participating in a book-leasing program with McNaughton. This will allow the
Library to have more volumes of current best sellers on hand. When the popularity of those
books is not there anymore, then the Library will return the copies which aren't needed and keep
one or two for the shelves. If a leased book is lost, the replacement cost is minimal. Every
month the Library will pick the number of books it wants, and then return the same number of
books no longer needed. The Library is starting with a collection of 300 books. All of these
leased books will come ready to be put on the shelf. The only thing the Library has to do is to
add its electronic tag to the books. The Library is also considering doing this with audio books.
Teen Read Week is the week of October 16—23 with the kick off of the new Teen Point area.
To celebrate Teen Read Week, the Staff has posted pictures of themselves as teenagers along
with what their favorite book was back when. The Library Board Members have been invited to
participate by providing their pictures and favorite books.
An inventory of the Library's collection is being done. So far,not many missing titles have
turned up, and several titles which were thought to be missing were found.
It was suggested a picture board of the Employees be posted up front so everyone will know who
they are. Likewise, it was suggested the Board Members also have their pictures posted to make
them more accessible to the citizens.
CITIZEN INPUT:
None.
ADJOURNMENT:
Mike McGehee asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made by Betty Fuller and
seconded by Barney Snitz. The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
u brary Board Secretary
