EULESS LIBRARY BOARD MINUTES
August 5, 1999
Acting Chairman Barney Snitz called the meeting to order at 7:13 p.m.

SPECIAL GUEST OF THE BOARD:
Jeanne Green, Librarian, visited the Board to give us an update about the aquarium. In addition
to "Precious", a lion fish,being added to the tank, an invertebrate and another fish will be added
during the program, "Tank Talk". This program is scheduled for August 7th and will be
presented by a representative from Tideline Aquatics. Drawings will be held during the
program to give away two copies of Aquarium Fish.
DISPOSITION OF THE MINUTES:
Barney Snitz asked for a motion to be made to accept the minutes as submitted. Betty Fuller
made the motion, and Wes Scott seconded the motion. All were in favor.
REPORTS FROM THE LIBRARY ADMINISTRATOR: June and July, 1999
June 1999:
JoAnn Rogers reported June 1999 circulation information. New registrations: 529; 151 out of
the city and 24 out of the county. Active Library Cards: 27,430. Total Holdings: 79,433.
Reference questions answered: 2,088. Video Cassettes Circulated: 5,228. There were 54
requests for Interlibrary Loans and 67 were received. Genealogy Sign-ins: 69 of which 40 were
Euless residents. Walk-in Traffic was 13,295. In house use of materials was 7,581.
VOLUNTEERS: 72 volunteers contributing 510.25 hours.
CHILDREN'S PROGRAMS: We had 26 Storytime Programs with 887 children and 169 adults.
Outreach Programs: There were 5 with 197 children and 21 adults. We had a Super Saturday III
Program with 28 children and 17 adults.
OTHER PROGRAMS/TOURS:

Euless residents. Walk-in Traffic was 9,573. In house use of materials was 5,584.

Additional Comments:
Teen Read Week will be held October 16 through the 23 in conjunction with the ALA. Many
activities are planned to celebrate the week including the grand opening of the Teen Point area
and a Sleep Over for the Junior High School students.
The library is in the process of analyzing its business collection .
The library is getting a good response from patrons regarding The Library Times.
The library is starting to develop links to the City of Euless' Web page.
The library has ten Internet stations now, and the library will be providing Internet training
classes in August and September.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
The City Council approved previous Library Board recommendations to extend the length of
check out time for videos to three weeks, to remove limits for non-fiction materials and videos,
and to charge ten cents per copy for all printers.
The Library Board Work Session in June identified nine Customer Service areas to be improved
upon by the library. A tenth Customer Service item was added to the list. Instead of the Board
discussing one of these items each month,JoAnn will keep us updated on all ten Customer
Service issues on a monthly basis since these are on going issues being addressed by the staff.
NEW AND MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS:
Betty Fuller was nominated to be the Lay Representative for the North Texas Regional Library
System by Wes Scott. Kerry McGeath seconded the nomination, and the nomination was
carried. Barney Snitz was nominated as the Alternative Lay Representative by Wes Scott, and
Betty Fuller seconded the nomination. The nomination was carried.
It was suggested the art exhibits from the Tarrant Art Guild be moved to the Senior Citizen area
or to the entryway once the Teen Point area is opened. It was also suggested a biography be
submitted for each of the displaying artists.

ADJOURNMENT:
Barney Snitz asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made by Betty Fuller and seconded
by Wes Scott. The meeting was adjourned at 8:38 p.m.
