While there, they divided into teams and visited with various state legislators. The issues being supported include: increased salaries for state librarians; library districts, with a minimum of 50,000 people, having voting right for a portion of the sales tax dedicated to the library district; establishing a fund for school libraries at$1.00 per student; and Tech Share which would include connecting the public libraries with the participating universities' online catalogs. Meredith McMannis was also there and did very well as a Team Leader. Everyone was encouraged to attend the next Texas Libraries Legislative Day which will be held in two years. The library will be shelving the videos into separate categories as previously requested. The Friends of the Library book sale February 27 and 28 earned $1,000.00 raising their total funds to approximately$4000.00. The library staff is doing a survey to determine what the library needs. NEW AND MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS: Input was requested from JoAnn and Sheila regarding the candidates in the upcoming officer elections for the TLA and the TLA Public Library Division. It was questioned as to whether or not the Euless Library would ever offer software loans. Since this is very staff intensive, as every piece needs to be checked upon return as well as checked for viruses, it was suggested current needs be met with neighboring libraries such as the Grapevine Library(there is a$25.00 fee to join) and the Arlington Library. Membership applications to the Euless Library Foundation were available and membership was encouraged. Meeting Room Information was distributed regarding the facility, fees, and policies. Additional copies were made available to distribute to clubs, organizations, or anyone who might be interested. CITIZEN INPUT: None. ADJOURNMENT: Charles McGehee asked for a motion to adjourn. Motion was made by Kerry McGeath, and seconded by Bernard Snitz. Charles McGehee adjourned the meeting at 8:07 p.m. Respectfully submitted, ( 71;i-e- -4- ..-\. /7 lathy rove Euless ibrary Board Secretary
