MINUTES
October 1, 1998
Chairman Mike McGehee called the Euless Library Board meeting to order at 7:12 p.m.

DISPOSITION OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING:
The Board accepted the minutes as prepared.
SPECIAL GUEST OF THE BOARD:
Sue Morrow, Circulation Manager of Euless Public Library, spoke to us briefly. She has
been with the Euless Library 30 years. Her duties are making sure library items are
checked out and returned in an orderly manner. The new library has brought increased
hours of operation, a larger collection, and many new patrons. Other special
opportunities for this position involve dealing with a mobile population and the new self-
checkout device.
REPORT OF LIBRARY DIRECTOR: September, 1998
Betty Yarbrough reported September 1998 circulation information of 19,126 down 6%
from last year. Active Library Cards: 22,769. Total Holdings: 76,912. Reference
questions answered: 1,543. Video Cassettes Circulated: 3,881. There were 29 requests
for Interlibrary Loans, 29 of which were received. Genealogy Sign-ins: 67 of which 47
were Euless residents. Walk-in Traffic was 11,296. In-house use of materials was 7,094.

Videos circulated: 42,718
Total circulation: 222,855
Total In-house use of materials: 73,898
Total number of reserves placed: 3,685

CHILDREN'S PROGRAMS: We had 27 story ln and 7 adult.

Hoots, Scott Thomson and Elizabeth Draper.
2. Internet Workshop attended by Jeanne Green and Ellen Collins.
3. Employee of the Month Committee: Sheila
4. NTRLS System meeting in Wichita Falls attended by Betty Fuller and Sheila.
5. Sheila hosted a Z39.50 committee meeting.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
Betty Yarbrough reported that the City accepted our revised goals and objectives for
1998-2003, and the Materials Selection Policy sent to Mr. Tom Cox last month.
NEW AND MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS:
The Friends of the Euless Library are having a meeting this month to elect new officers.
The proposed new officers are:
President: Norann Lustfield
Vice-President: Gilbert Wheeler
Secretary: Vercile Jordan
Treasurer: Cleo Wheeler
CITIZEN INPUT:
Patricia Garza was very complimentary of the new library and the programs. She is a
school teacher in Irving School District that lives in Euless.
ADJOURNMENT:
Betty Fuller moved the meeting be adjourned and Terry McGeath seconded it. Meeting
was adjourned at 7:52 by Mike McGehee.
