HomeMy WebLinkAbout1998-03-05 EULESS LIBRARY BOARD F1.7: MINUTES y CZA-cl , 1998 tggg Chairperson Mike McGehee called the Euless Library Board meeting to order, at 7:07 p.m. MEMBERS PRESENT STAFF PRESENT VISITORS Mike McGehee Betty Yarbrough Elizabeth (Liz) Schoonover Sheila Williams Betty Fuller Wesley Scott DISPOSITION OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING: One correction was made. Mike McGehee's name was misspelled in the paragraph under previous minutes. Correction made and Betty Fuller motioned that the minutes be accepted. Wesley Scott seconded and the motion was carried. REPORT OF LIBRARY DIRECTOR -February 1998 Betty Yarbrough reported February 1998 circulation information. New registrations: 464; 125 out of the city and 4 out of the county. Active Library Cards: 19,322. Total Holdings: 72,996. Reference questions answered: 2,067. Videocassettes circulated: 3,141. There were 46 requests for Interlibrary loans; 39 items were received. Genealogy sign-ins: Total 71 of which 37 were Euless residents. Walk-in traffic was 12,394 and in-house use of materials 5,327. Total Volunteers for February were 19 with total hours contributed 90. Programs: Storytime Sessions were 32 with 559 children and 181 adults attending. Special Programs & Tours, Month of February: Specials: Parenting Center 3, Super Saturday III -Middle Eastern Dance -21 children; 47 adults. Battle of Books Social - 72 children; 76 adults. Tour: 10 Tours: 7 Methodist Preschool, 2 Midway Elementary, 1 Home School Study - 226 children; 91 adults. Outreach - 3 Reading Circles, 1 Headstart, 4 Midway Rec. Preschool- 76 children; 28 adults. Programming outside the library totalled 19 V2 hours. Adult Program: Genealogy Intermediate Workshop -Attendance 27 + 3 instructors. Mrs. Yarbrough attended the following meetings in February 1998: 1. Let's Talk About Books. 2. PLANT Meeting - Lewisville Public Library. 3. Library Foundation Meeting. 4. East Regional NTRLS meeting hosted with Sheila Williams. 5. North Hills Mall Book Sale. OTHER REPORTS: 1. New Board assignments. 2. Attended 25 Year Employee Lunch- Sue Morrow. 3. Battle of Books -Meredith McMannis judge at Oakwood Terrace and at finals, 4. Arbor Daze Committee Meeting-Betty, Sheila and Meredith. 5. Teckies Meeting, Hurst Public Library -Attended by Sherry Moeller, Carolyn Hoots and Angela Rosenbaum. 6. Mid-Cities Youth Librarian's Meeting -Bedford Public Library-Meredith. 7. NTRLS Advisory &Planning Committee - Sandra McCurdy. UNFINISHED BUSINESS Maxine Wallis has been moved from Alternate #1 to place 6 on the Library Board. Our new alternate #2 is Jerri Walker. NEW AND MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS: The last changes in the Goals and Objectives of the Library were made in October, 1995. Copies will be mailed out with the March minutes. Consideration of any needed changes will be discussed. Bernard Snitz and Wesley Scott attended the February 10th City Council Meeting. City Council voted to accept the T.I.F. Grant. CITIZEN INPUT: None - ADJOURNMENT There being no further business, motion was made by Liz Schoonover, and seconded by Wesley Scott to adjourn. Mike McGehee adjourned the meeting at 7:42 p. m.
