EULESS LIBRARY BOARD
MINUTES
January 8, 1998
Chairperson Wesley Scott called the Euless Library Board meeting to order, at 7:05 p.m.

DISPOSITION OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING:
Motion to accept the minutes as received was made by Betty Fuller and seconded
by Bernard Snitz. Motion carried.
REPORT OF LIBRARY DIRECTOR-December 1997
Betty Yarbrough reported December 1997 circulation information. New registrations:
309; 65 out of the city and 5 out of the county. Active Library Cards: 18,187. Total
Holdings: 72,953. Reference questions answered: 1,403. Videocassettes circulated:
2,870. There were 30 requests for=lnterlibrary loans; 37 items were received.
Genealogy sign-ins: Total 46 of which 24 were Euless residents. Walk-in traffic was
8,789 and in-house use of materials 4,097. Total Volunteers for December were 17 with
total hours contributed 69.25.
Programs: Storytime Sessions were 11 with 70 children and 18 adults attending.
Special Programs & Tours, Month of December:
Specials: Two Christmas Puppet Shows - 43 children; 27 adults.
Super Saturday III - Christmas Choir Concert - 10 children; 42 adults.
Parenting Center - 2 adults.
Outreach - 2 programs - 42 children; 6 adults (Midway Rec Preschool and
Headstart)
Reading Circle - 8 readers; 12 hours.
Mrs. Yarbrough attended the following meetings in December 1997:
1. Let's Talk About Books.
2. PLANT -Terrell.
3. Support Services Christmas Lunch.
4. Interviewed for Librarian III position.
OTHER REPORTS:
1. Library Staff held a great Christmas party.
2. Internet Workshop - 5 Staff members attended- Elizabeth Draper, Scott Thomson,
Jeanne Green, Tammi Price and Ellen Collins.
3. City Employees Christmas Luncheon.
4. In-House Newsletter well received.
5. Juvenile and Young Adult Collection Development Workshop -Meredith McMannis
& Ellen Collins.
6. Audit by Finance Department on Money Handling Techniques - Sue Morrow and
Paula McLain.
7. TIF Grant - Sheila Williams.
8. Employee of the Month Committee - Sheila Williams.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
Mike McGehee moved that we ask the City Council to move up to Board membership
one of our alternates to fill the unexpired term of Alice Ernest. We would welcome
either one. Seconded by Wesley Scott. The vote was unanimous.
NEW AND MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS:
Friends of the Library Book Sale will be held February 28 and March 1 at North Hills Mall
with 6 other libraries.
Arbor Daze this year will be held on April 24, 25 and 26.
ET FCTIONS:
By secret ballot the following people were elected to be the officers for the coming
year:
Chairperson: Charles M. McGehee
Vice Chairperson: Wesley Scott
Secretary: Elizabeth Schoonover
After discussion, the Board unanimously elected Mr. McGehee to continue as
our Representative to the Library Foundation.
CITIZEN INPUT:
None
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business, motion was made by Betty Fuller, and seconded
by Wesley Scott to adjourn. Meeting was adjourned at 8:05 p.m.
