UNFINISHED BUSINESS
Our Library Consultant, Dr. Deborah Karpuk, turned in such a thorough report on
our current collection and future needs, that the "Survey Sheets" (last month's minutes)
are not needed at this time.
NEW AND MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS:
Library staff will inventory the collection next spring during Arbor Daze, checking the
condition of books, currency and usage. The data base is current; this will be a physical
hands on examination of the library's collection.
If someone requests that the library buy a certain book for the collection, it will be
considered by the staff and the person making the request will be notified by telephone
or a post card.
As of October 1, 1997, if an adult or teenager who has a library card comes to the library
without his library card, can check out material with a picture I.D.
More staff have been trained to override problems at the main desk to provide better
service.
NEW AND MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS (Cont'd.)
Cross Training is a method the library uses to make staff more versatile and able to help
patrons in every area of the library. Staff at the circulation desk can now give patrons
the status of a book they have reserved.
Since moving to the new library, the staff has doubled. It is still like one big family, and
has been commended for friendliness to customers.
Mike McGehee, who is also on the Library Foundation, made it known that they need
more members in the Foundation. Dues are $10.00 a year to cover operational costs.
Library Board Members were invited to join the Library Foundation.
The Annual meeting of the Friends of the Library is scheduled for October 16, 1997
at 7:00 p.m. It will be held in the large meeting room and is open to the public.
The first Super Saturday III was held on September 20th and was a big success. The
