The Library is receiving a grant from the North Texas Regional Library System for a consultant to evaluate the Library's collection and make recommendations for improvements. The consultant will be Dr. Deborah Karpuk, Director of the Haltom City Public Library and an adjunct professor at the University of North Texas School of Library and Information Science. The Board requests her suggestions to improve the user survey being developed. Several Board Members volunteered to help conduct the survey. We are not going to acquire a second copier at this time for public use. We need a new one in the work room and are considering leasing one for the staffs use. The maintenance on the old copier is getting financially prohibitive. Five people were able to attend the tour at the Texas Star Golf Course. The Board was disappointed that so few were able to come; but the change from 6:15 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. that same day did not give us enough preplanning time. We received glowing reports from those who had the opportunity to go. It is well laid out and will be an asset to Euless. (3) Two City Council meetings were attended by Library Board Members this month. Liz Schoonover and Wesley Scott gave reports of what the City Council is accomplishing for Euless. We are grateful for those who serve us so faithfully on the Council and make sure our city's beauty will be preserved with all the new construction that is coming into the area. NEW AND MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS: Storytelling Under The Stars is scheduled for Friday,June 13 at 7:30 p.m. in the Library courtyard. Members of TAG (Tarrant Area Guild of Storytellers) will be telling stories for both children and adults. Bring a picnic supper and a blanket or chair and enjoy the evening. The Fort Worth Star Telegram is sponsoring TAGS for this event. If it rains, the program will be held in the meeting room. Mike McGehee moved that we cancel the July 3 Library Board meeting because we would not have a quorum. Alice Ernest seconded it. Motion was carried. Our next meeting will be August 7, 1997. A citizen inquired of Bernard Snitz whether the Library has a video room so he could study his videos for a test. We have no VCR's and do not have any soundproof rooms in which they could operate. This is not a possibility as a library service. Under current Texas laws regarding "Public Performance of Videos" it would not be legal to use some videos. CITIZEN INPUT: There was no citizen input this month. There being no further business, Chairperson Wesley Scott adjourned the meeting at 7:50 p.m. Respectfully submitted, i► , C Or Eigy,-/X /(- E ', De A. Schoonover Euless Library Board Secretary
