EULESS LIBRARY BOARD
MINUTES
October 3, 1996
Chairperson Wesley Scott called the Euless Library Board meeting to order, at 7:06 p.m.

MISCELLANEOUS
Sculptor, Cindy Burleson, Austin, Texas has been selected to produce the sculpture
for the Library Foundation art work. The work is to be children, reading on a quilt,
one and one-quarter natural size.
Library Staff training on Lotus Smart Suite software program.
Grand Opening program is finalized. Mayor Mary Lib Saleh will give the opening
address and introduce special guests. Dorothy Shaw Bell Choir will entertain. After
ribbon cutting, all library areas will be open for public viewing. Library staff and
Library Board members will answer questions, point out library features and guide
the public through the library.
City of Euless, Ordinance No 1218, has established fees for use of the new Library
Meeting Room.
REPORT OF LIBRARY DIRECTOR
Mrs. Yarbrough reported September 1996 circulation information, registrations 1,142.
Sixteen out of the city and 0 out of the county. There were 279 requests for Interlibrary
loans; 234 items were received. Visits to the Genealogy Area were 67 of which 41 were
Euless residents. Walk-in traffic was 11,436 and in-house use of materials 4,849. Total
Volunteers for September were 15 with total hours contributed 117.25.
Children's Services Storytime Sessions were 25 with 376 children and 60 adults
attending.
Special Programs & Tours, Month of September:
There were 2 Specials: PTA Card Registration& Title I Parent Involvement Program
resulting in 29 new registrations.
Meredith McMannis spoke at Trinity High School National Honor Society about
reading circle.
Tours: 4 Midway Park lst Grade classes, 1 Boy Scout Troop with total of 109 children
and 18 adults.
Mrs. Yarbrough attended the following meetings in September 1996:
1. Gala Committee and Subcommittees.
2. Let's Talk about Books.
3. PLANT meeting- Coppell Public Library.
4. Interviews/presentations with prospective sculptors.
5. Managers' meeting with Euless City Manager.
6. Reception for Mayor, City Council Members and Library Directors in
Tarrant county.
7. NTRLS Forum.
8. Library Foundation and Executive Board.
9. Hosted Dallas Public Library Managers group.
10. With Sheila, attended NTRLS Assembly, Mineral Wells.
OTHER REPORTS
1. Invitations to Grand Opening mailed September 16, 1996.
There being no further business, Chairperson Wesley Scott adjourned the meeting at
8:19 p.m..
