MINUTES
September 5, 1996
Chairperson Wesley Scott called the Euless Library Board meeting to order, at 7:05 p.m.

Miscellaneous
Minutes for the August 1, 1996, meeting were accepted as corrected. Miscellaneous,
second sentence, "Problems were the old computer system being moved and
integrated into the new system," corrected to read "Problems occurred in converting
Data from the old system into the new system." Minutes for the May 2, 1996, meeting
were received and accepted.
Selection of the sculptor for the Library Foundation Art project is progressing. Final
selection is nearing.
REPORT OF LIBRARY DIRECTOR
Mrs. Yarbrough reported August 1996 circulation information, registrations 2,224.
Twenty six out of the city and 0 out of the county. There were 36 requests for
Interlibrary loans; 6 items were received. Visits to the Genealogy Area were 98 of
which 67 were Euless residents. Walk-in traffic was 11,963 and in-house use of materials
4,442. Total Volunteers for August were 15 with total hours contributed 154.25.
Children's Services Storytime Sessions were 14 with 220 children and 30 adults
attending.
Special Programs &Tours, Month of August
There were 6 Specials: Midway Madness, with 18 children and 4 adults. Story Teller,
Shelly Kneupper, with 7 children and 15 adults. Body Motion Performing Arts with 29
children and 16 adults. Rawlph's Birthday Party, with 51 children and 16 adults.
Storytelling Under the Stars, with 28 children and 33 adults. Storytime for Bear Creek
PTA, with 74 children and 4 adults.
Tours: 4 Midway Park 5th Grade classes with 100 children and 12 adults. School
Registration August 1, 1996 - 169 cards.
Mrs. Yarbrough attended the following meetings in August 1996:
1. Grand Opening& Gala Committee Meetings.
2. Hosted HEB I.S.D. Librarians for covered dish luncheon.
3. Hosted NTRLS East Regional Meeting.
4. Foundation meetings -Fundraising&Arts Committee.
5. NTRLS workshop on writing library policies
OTHER REPORTS
1. Selected staff receiving training on new PC programs (Lotus Smart Suite).
2. Fire monitor training.
3. Sherry Moeller & Carolyn Hoots -Techies Meeting.
4. Evaluation Training- 6 Staff members.
5. Ice Cream Social attended by Staff.
6. HEB I.S.D. Vocational Worksite students working 2 hours per week.
7. Grand Opening Planning.
Unfinished Business
Planning for the Library Grand Opening, Sunday, October 13, 1996, is being finalized.
Invitations are to be mailed by September 16, 1996. Library Board members will hand
address the invitations. Presentors in the programs for the week are lined up and final
commitments are being firmed up.
Mrs. Yarbrough distributed the current Organization Chart for the Euless Public Library
Staff, to Board Members.
There being no further business, Chairperson Wesley Scott adjourned the meeting at
8:15 p.m..
