Moving from the old library to the new, was accomplished with few problems.
Problems were the old computer system being moved and integrated into the new
system, and the time pressure of so many simultaneous activities having to interface
together, compounded by the last minute arrival of new equipment. But diligence, effort
and cooperation, by everyone, accomplished the move on schedule.
Library and City personnel from Hurst and Bedford have visited our new facility.
Quality new staff persons have been hired and are rapidly being trained on the new
systems and integrated into the library operations.
Library Board will plan the Grand Opening ceremonies and activities. The library will
be closed on Saturday, October 19, 1996, for a Library Foundation Gala. The Grand
Opening is scheduled for Sunday, October 13, 1996, with invitations to local officials and
dignitaries.
The Library Director now reports to and receives support and supervision from Tom
Cox, Director of Support Services.
Supervision of the new library meeting center was discussed. No decision has yet been
made, but the Library Board unanimously agreed that the facility was an integral part of
the library building and that supervision and responsibility for both the library and the
meeting center should be one.
NIRLS Regional Meeting is to be hosted by the Euless Library, August 18, 1996.
