EULESS LIBRARY BOARD
MINUTES
MARCH 07, 1996
Chairperson Wesley Scott called the Euless Library Board meeting
to order, at 7:05 p.m.

DISPOSITION OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING:
Minutes of the February 01 , 1996 meeting were received and
approved as corrected. Correct spelling of McGhee to McGehee
and correct last sentence, REPORT OF LIBRARY DIRECTOR, to read,
"Battle of The Books: Merideth McMannes was at Oakwood Terrace,
North Euless and Lakewood elementary schools ."
REPORT OF LIBRARY DIRECTOR:
Mrs. Yarbrough reported February 1996 Circulation Information.
Total registrations 301 , of which 54 were out of the city and
2 were out of county. 13 Interlibrary loans were requested
and 28 items were received. 70 total visits to the Genealogy
Room, of which 41 were Euless residents. Walk-in traffic was
4,981 and In-house use of materials 3, 340.
Volunteers: 11 volunteers contributed 107.75 hours.
Childrens Services: Storytime Sessions 22, with 418 children
and 90 adults attending. 6 Tours for First United Methodist
Pre-School and South Euless Elementary PEAK students, with 166
children and 62 adults. 2 Special, on location Reading Circles
were conducted at First United Methodist, Euless, Pre-School,
for 38 children and 13 adults.
Meetings Attended:
1 . Let' s Talk About Books.
2. Library Foundation; Cookbook Committee, Fundraising
Committee and Art Committee.
3 . Battle of The Books, final combat.
4 . Arbor Daze Committee ( 2 meetings) .
5. With Arlington Public Library, to discuss State grant, with
Sheila Williams.
6. Mall Book Sale, with Friends of the Library.
7. TXShare workshop, at UTA, with Sheila Williams.
8. North Texas Regional Library System ( 2 meetings) .

Other Reports:
1 . Customer Service Training was attended by all staff.
2. Supervisor' s Training was attended by 4 staff members.
3. Staff tour of the new building.
4. City Farewell Party for Barbara Thompson.
5. Sheila Williams and Alice Ernest attended the East Region
of the North Texas Regional Library System, meeting.
6. New Technical Services-Sherry Moeller.
MISCELLANEOUS:
Construction is on time and on schedule. Architecture blends
well with the existing city complex.
Entrance to new library, children' s area is to be enhanced by
multicultural figurines.
Merideth McMannes, March 04, 1996, set up a meeting to register
students for the Summer Reading Program, and coordinate with
School Librarians, School Library summer open hours, with the
Euless Library.
Low use items in the old library are being pulled and stored
for placement into the new library. New items received will
be stored until the new library can be stocked.
There being no more business, Chairperson Wesley Scott adjourned
the meeting at 7: 46 p.m.
