Members Present Staff Present Visitors Present Alice Ernest Charles Cade Betty Yarbrough Elaine Turner Russell Schoonover Wesley Scott DISPOSITION OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING The Board approved the minutes of the June 2, 1994 Euless Library Board meeting subject to the addition of Joy Holder's name to the list of Visitors Present. REPORT OF THE LIBRARIAN Mrs. Yarbrough reported the June 1994 circulation information. See the attached documents for exact figures. Mrs. Yarbrough reported the following meetings she attended in June: 1. Internet Workshop-Texas State Library. 2. Euless City Council meeting, Wesley Scott was also present 3. Visit Plano &Carrollton Libraries with Euless City Council. 4. Attended ALA Conference,Miami Beach. 5. Bedford Public Library reception for 30th anniversary. 6. Interviewed and selected new Reference Librarian,Mary Wilber. NEW LIBRARY Alice Ernest and Betty Yarbrough reported on the progress of the new Library. PSA was the council's first choice for a architectural firm. The City Manager has been authorized to negotiate with the firm. The approval of the contract will he through the City Council. It appears very possible that Ms. Denali Lysons could be involved in the design of the new Euless Public Library! She has recently specialized in the designing of public libraries. She was also highly recommended by other cities as an architect who listens to and works for their city. July 14,1994 Euless Public Library Minutes Continued Page 2 OLD BUSINESS At a previous meeting, Chairman Alice Ernest asked Betty Yarbrough to notify the requester of the Boards action regarding reconsideration of material. Mrs. Yarbrough reported that the requester had telephoned and thanked the Board for the letter. FRIENDS OF THE EULESS LIBRARY REPORT Elaine Turner,President of the Friends of the Euless Library,reported about their activities. She said that an article about the New Library and the Friends appeared in the Mid-Cities News today. Elaine said the Book Cottage liquidation sales has generated increased activity. The total Book Cottage sales in the month of June was 5725.00! There being no further business, Chairman Alice Ernest adjourned the meeting at 7:40 p. m. Wesley Scat Euless Library Board Secretary
