Members Present Staff Present Visitors Present Alice Ernest Sheila Williams Elaine Turner Mike McGehee Betty Yarbrough Joy Betty Fuller Russell Schoonover Wesley Scott Joyce Yamamoto DISPOSITION OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING The Board approved the minutes of the May 5, 1994 Euless Library Board meeting subject to the correct spelling of Byron Folse, the fourth architect listed under New Business. REPORT OF THE LIBRARIAN Mrs. Yarbrough reported the May 1994 circulation information. See the attached documents for exact figures. Mrs. Yarbrough reported the following meetings she attended in May: 1. Let's Talk About Books 2. NTLS East Regional Meeting, Pilot Point with Alice Ernest &Sheila Williams 3. Trip to south Texas with Architectural Selection Committee 4. Meeting with area libraries automation consultant, at N. Richland Hills 5. Public hearing on 1/2 cent sales tax 6. Interviews with architectural firms with Alice Ernest Miscellaneous: 1. Sally Cook,Reference Librarian,resigned. 2. Summer postcard bulletin board project. Euless Library Board Minutes June 2, 1994 Page 2 NEW LIBRARY Alice Ernest and Betty Yarbrough reported on the architects'presentation. The Selection Committee has made their recommendation to the Euless City Council. The final decision will be made by the City Council. NEW BUSINESS The Library Board decided unanimously to reschedule the July Board Meeting to July 14th, due to the summer schedules of many of the members. The Library Board discussed a request for reconsideration of library material. Betty Fuller moved that the books remain in the collection based on the Library Bill of Rights which are part of the Euless Library Board By-laws. Mike McGee second the motion. The Board agreed unanimously. Chairman Alice Ernest ask Betty Yarbourgh to notify the requester of the Boards action. FRIENDS OF THE EULESS LIBRARY REPORT Elaine Turner, President of the Friends of the Euless Library,reported about their activities. She brought a newspaper clipping. The article was about Friends of the Library and approximately half the article was about the Euless Friends of the Library,with several direct quotes from Mrs. Turner published. The Friends ordered new puppets and more CD-Rom material for the Library. The total Book Cottage sales in the month of May was 677.07! There being no further business, Chairman Alice Ernest adjourned the meeting at 8:24 p. m. Wesley Scott Euless Library Board Secretary
