MEMBERS PRESENT STAFF PRESENT VISITORS PRESENT Charles Cade Rick Herold Alice Ernest Sheila Williams Edward Denari Betty Fuller Betty Yarbrough Elaine Turner Mike McGehee Russell Schoonover Wesley Scott Joyce Yamamoto DISPOSITION OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING The Board approved the minutes of the April 7,1994 Euless Library Board meeting as written subject to the following correction. The second sentence of the Friends of the Library Report should read: Elaine said she ordered eight CD-ROM disks for genealogy for $69.00 each. REPORT OF LIBRARIAN Mrs. Yarbrough reported the April 1994 circulation information. See the attached documents for exact figures. Mrs. Yarbrough reported attending the following meetings in April. 1. Let's Talk about Books 2. Arbor Daze 3. LOTC Meeting 4. Friends of Library 5. NTRLS with Mrs. Ernest at the new Graham Public Library 6. Night of a 1,000 Stars 7. Architect Selection Committee (2) The Librarian also reported the following events for this month. 1. Children's services this month included a visit to 100 classes at the following schools; South Euless, North Euless, Oakwood Terrace, and Lakewood. In addition to the 24 hours spent at the schools, there were 18 storytime sessions with 255 children and 43 adults. Betty Yarbrough, Sheila Williams, and Meredith McMannis attended the Annual Conference of the Texas Library Association. 3. The Desoto Public Library sustained major damages. The video viewed last meeting, as well as the proximity of this disaster to our own city, made us aware of the importance of preparedness. NEW BUSINESS Mr. Rick Herold told the Board that the Architect Selection Committee has been working very hard. He also reported that the cooperation and unity among the committee members were great. Rick also reported that the Committee had narrowed the 21 responses down to four finalists. Listed below are the four finalists. Each finalist will submit a 90 minute proposal on, June 1, 1994. 1. F & S 2. PSA 3. Ray Bailey 4. Byran Folse FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY REPORT Elaine Turner, President of the Friends of the Euless Public Library, reported the Book Cottage made $604.00 total sales at the big Arbor Daze Sale. Mrs. Turner also reported that the Book Cottage must leave its current location on, November 1, 1994. The Board discussed some options. However no solution was found at this time. CITIZEN INPUT Chairman Alice Ernest recognized Mr. Edward Denari for citizen input. Mr. Denari requested explaination of the method of selecting architect firms to be interviewed. Mr. Herold explained the process the committee used. There being no further discussion, Chairman Alice Ernest adjourned the meeting at 7:40 p. m. Euless Li Nary Board Secretary Wesley Scott
