Library Board meeting as written subject to the following correction.
On page 1, the Disposition of Minutes of Previous Mee ling, item
number 7 should read as listed below.
7. NTIS area meeting with Alice Ernest.
REPORT OF LIBRARIAN
Mrs. Yarbrough reported the December 1993 circulation
information. See the attached documents for exact figures. The
report shows that circulation decreased by 9.5% over last year's
activity. The Board discussed the reasons for the circulation records
activity and determined that this year the library was closed on
Saturday due to the way the holidays fell on the weekends.
Saturday is historically a very active library usage day by the
citizens of Euless. Mrs. Yarbrough also reported additional
information on the fund raiser that Ft. Worth Public Library was
doing. They are selling bricks. You can have your name placed on a
brick. The bricks will be used in the construction of a new project.
Mrs. Yarbrough reported the following meetings she attended in
December.
1. Let's Talk about Books
2. Arbor Daze Committee Meeting
3. Dinner Theater at Ruth Millican Recreation Center.
4. Christmas Staff party- honored volunteers
5. Christmas Employee's Luncheon.
6. Mrs. Yarbrough received her 15 year pin.

DISCUSSION OF THE NEW LIBRARY
The Board continued discussions about the new library. Mrs.
Yarbrough reported that the library consultants had visited the City
Council meeting on January 4, 1994. Rick Herold briefed the library
Board about the meeting. He was very positive and felt that while
the total 5 million dollar figure may be high, the council basically
took a very favorable response to the square footage needs and
agreed with them overall. The general opinion from Rick seemed to
be that we will have the finest library we can afford. According to
Mr. Herold, the council members seemed to think that maybe we
could build the same library but for less money. Mr. Herold
confirmed the report received, in our last Board meeting, by Mrs.
Yarbrough that the new library will be on the City Complex grounds.
Mr. Herold said that the Council is looking at a free standing building,
in the area directly behind the Police Station.
FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY REPORT
Elaine Turner, President of the Friends of the Euless Public library,
reported the Book Cottage Income for the entire year of 1993 was a
super $6,105.42. See the attached Monthly Income Statement for the
period covering 1985 through 1993. Alice Ernest thanked Elaine for
her super efforts. Elaine modestly excepted the thanks but only
after acknowledging that she could not have done it without help.
F1FCTION OF OFFICERS
Chairman Alice Ernest requested the Board's decision on whether to
wait to hold the elections because of the number of Board members
absent or to go ahead. The Board discussed the topic and decided to
hold the election of officers as planned. Wesley Scott counted the
secret ballets, and announced the results immediately. lasted below
are the results of the election:

GENERAL DISCUSSION
Chairman Alice Ernest recognized Mr. Edward Denari, a member of
The Euless Development Corporation, for citizen comments to the
Library Board. Mr. Denari spoke eloquently on the need for planning
for the best library we can provide our fellow citizens, and the need
to make it a work of art.
Mr. Rick Herold told the Board about the good news. This year,
Euless received the National Arbor Day Awards for the Best Arbor
Day Event in America and The Best New Park Design in Texas. The
awards mean that Governor Ann Richards will hold the State
Celebration of Arbor Day in Euless, Texas! The Board congratulated
Rick on the awards and agreed that Arbor Daze is something special
in Euless.
There being no further discussion, Chairman Alice Ernest adjourned
the meeting at 8:25 p. in.
