EULESS LIBRARY BOARD
December 2, 1993
Alice Ernest, Chairman, called the Euless Library Board to order at
7:00 p. m. in the Euless Public Library.

DISPOSITION OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING
The Board approved the minutes of the November 11,1 993 Euless
Library Board meeting as written subject to the following correction.
On page 2, the Librarian's report for October meetings and activities,
item's number 5 and 7 should read as listed below.
5. Council meeting where Barbara Thompson & Carolyn Hoots were
Recognized.
7. NTLAS area meeting with Alice Ernest.
REPORT OF LIBRARIAN
Mrs. Yarbrough reported the November 1993 circulation
information. See the attached documents for exact figures. The
report shows that circulation increased by 6% over last year's
activity, which is the third month in a row for an increase. The
Board discussed the reasons for the circulation records recent success
without coming up with one single reason, but concluded the
increased activity was a combination of several things that the Euless
Library staff was doing right as well as increased school assignment
or reports this year over last year. Also, Mrs. Yarbrough also
reported that the Euless Library has 15,110 active borrowers.

Mrs. Yarbrough reported the following meetings she attended in
November.
1. PLANT meeting in Irving Public Library- demo of GIS System.
2. Let's Talk About Books
3. Texas Municipal League - San Antonio
4. Euless Christmas Tree Lighting. Mrs. Yarbrough played a very
important part, she turned on the lights to the Christmas Tree.
5. Mead to 4th grade class at North Euless Elementary.
6. Senior Citizens' Thanksgiving Luncheon at Simmons Park.
7. Boards and Commission Dinner.
DISCUSSION OF THE NEW LIBRARY
The Board continued discussions about the new library. Mrs.
Yarbrough reported that the library consultants had planned a site
visit, but has postponed the visit until January 1994. Mrs. Yarbrough
informed the Library Board that the City Council agrees that the new
library will be on the City Complex grounds, however exact locations
and other details are not available.
GENERAL DISCUSSION
There was no old business. The Librarian answered several
questions regarding book purchasing and processing. Alice Ernest
informed everyone that the next meeting is January 6, 1994. Alice
Ernest also stated that she plans to have elections for Library Board
Officers at that meeting.
There being no further discussion, Chairman Alice Ernest adjourned
the meeting at 7:50 p. n1.
