DISPOSITION OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING
The Board approved the attached minutes for January 7, 1993.
DISCUSSION OF THE HALF CENT SALES TAX VOTE
Librarian, Betty Yarbrough, reported the latest information about
the vote. The Board agreed that the passage of the 1/2 Penny Sales
Tax required extraordinary effort from many people.
DISCUSSION OF THE NEW LIBRARY
Librarian, Betty Yarbrough, reported the suggestions received from
the patron suggestion box. Many suggestions requested immediate
action to build a new, larger facility, At this time, the exact site
location is not known. She also said that the City Manager is
extremely supportive of the new library and is researching
architects. Betty also reported that she is collecting names of
construction oriented library consultants. The majority of the board
indicated they wanted to visit libraries in the area to learn from
their mistakes as well as their successes. Move in time could be as
soon as two to three years.

REPORT OF LIBRARIAN
Mrs. Yarbrough reported the January 1993 circulation information.
See the attached documents for exact figures. In summary,
circulation was down 7% overall, Adult circulation figures were up
10%, but children circulation figures were down 1.8%. The Librarian
is adding more volunteer help for shelving of children's books,
which was the reason for the lower than normal circulation figures.
Mrs. Yarbrough reported that she attended the following meetings:
NTLS Central Area Meeting (Sheila & Betty)
ADA Workshop
Public Library.Administrators of North Texas Meeting
Reception for Retiring Director of Denton Public Library
Recycling Kickoff
ELECTION OF OFFICERS
Alice Ernest read the by-laws and explained each member's rights
and responsibilities. The Board discussed requirements and
responsibilities of each position prior to the election. Betty Fuller
counted the secret ballets, and announced the results immediately.

There being no further discussion, Chairman Alice Ernest adjourned
the meeting at 8:00 p. m.
