• REGULAR MEETING
EULESS PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES
MAY 3, 1990
CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Euless Public Library Board of Trustees was called to order by
Chairman Kaye Munden at 7:10 P.M.

The minutes from the previous meeting were approved.
LIBRARIAN'S REPORT:
In the absence of Betty Yarbrough, Sharon Wilson, Assistant Library Director, gave the
librarian's report. Because the April meeting had been cancelled, circulation reports for March
and April were given.
MARCH CIRCULATION REPORT;
The total March circulation was 10,780, down 15% from the previous year; however, the
library was closed for renovations the week of March 19-23. New registrations totaled 260.
Thirty-four of these were out-of-city and two were out of county. March statistics included 206
adult and 54 juvemnile registrations. Sixty-four visits were made to the Genealogy Room. One
thousand three hundred fifty-six videocassettes were checked out. Two hundred three children and
28 adults attended 12 storytime sessions. Four puppet shows were staged at the Leisure Faire.
Two hundred fifty children and 100 adults attended. One student (Methodist Pre-School) tour was
made to the library. Library personnel made 2 visits to the Kindergarten classes'takewood
Elementary during Public School Week. Three volunteers contributed 42 hours of service.
Meetings attended by library personnel included: Let's Talk About Books; Public Library
Administrators of North Texas (PLANT); TMLDA Executive Board; Texas Conference of Libraries &
Information Services (TCLIS) Regional Planning Meeting in Decatur; and Leisure Faire.
APRIL REPORT;
April circulation totaled 12,014, an 8% increase over the previous year. The new
registration total of 276 included 46 out-of-city,2 out of county, 236 adult,and 40 juvenile.
Four volunteers contributed 55 hours of service. One hundred seventy-seven children and 19
adults attended 12 storytime sessions. One library tour was made by 14 students and 5 adults
from First Methodist Preschool. April meetings attended included: TLD in Dallas; Friends of the
Library; Strategic Planning for the City of Euless;, District Planning Executive Committee; and
"Night of a Thousand Stars". Readers at the April 25,"Night of a Thousand Stars " included :Harold
Samuels, mayor; Dr. Watson, H.E.B. school superintendent; Kaye Munden, Chairman of the Library
Board and other patrons. Betty Yarbrough has accepted a three year appointment to the TLA
Friends& Trustees Involvement Committee, Sharon Wilsonhas been appointed to the TLA Literacy
Committee.
