COMMUNICATIONS
The Chairman circulated Library Board minutes from Hurst and Bedford.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
The Chairman advised that she had notified City Council that at the
present time the Board did not have a member availabe to serve as Library
Board Representative to Advisory Board for Social Concerns.
Mrs. Yarbrough reported that, in response to an inquiry by Board member
Brenda Ashford, she had submitted a request to City Council for funds from the
hotel/motel tax revenue to purchase additional art prints. Mrs. Yarbrough was
advised that the Council would consider the request.
NEW BUSINESS
Two Board positions are up for reappointment. Bill Foreman indicated his
continued interest in the Library Board and his desire to be reappointed. David
Sallee shared that his personal circumstances were such that he would not seek
reappointment to the Board. There was concern among the Board members that the
City Council might not appoint any alternates to the Library Board. It was
generally felt that alternates to the Board were necessary and several Board
members agreed to contact members of the City Council to encourage the Council
to appoint at least two alternates to the Library Board.
The Chairman announced that new officers would be elected at the next
meeting, since all new Board appointments will have been made by that time.
Mrs. Yarbrough shared preliminary results of the patron use and facilities
survey conducted in the Library in April. She indicated that 910 Euless
residents participated in the survey, 137 out of city residents and 12 people
who did not respond to the residency question.
Mrs. Yarbrough and Sally Cook, the Reference Librarian, were asked to serve
on a Adult Basic Education learning center evaluation committee.
