Euless Public Library Board of Trustees
February 28, 1984
CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Euless Public Library Board of Trustees
was called to order at 7:07 p.m. by Chairman Sonja Adams in the Librarian's
office at the Library.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The minutes of the meeting of February 2, 1984 were approved
as written.
LIBRARIAN'S REPORT
A. Statistical Report
Total circulation for February was 10,068, an increase of 11% over
the same period last year. There were 377 registrations in
February, with 125 out of the city and 10 out of the county.
Fourteen requests for interlibrary loans were made, with 4 books
and 2 Xeroxed articles received. There were 411 in-house reference
questions and 389 by telephone. Sixty-seven reserves were checked
out. Videocassettes were checked out 814 times, video games 147
times, and micro computers 10 times. Three cameras were checked
out, 1 smoke detector and 19 art prints.
B. Genealogy Room
There were 96 visits to the Geneology Room, with 23 (24%) from
Euless.
C. Children's Services
There were 12 storytime sessions in February, with 257 children
and 28 adults attending.
D. Volunteers
Three volunteers contributed a total of 18 hours. The Librarian
indicated the need for volunteers to help in the Adult Basic
Education Learning Center.
E. Reports and Meetings
The Librarian attended the North Texas Library System Advisory
Council Meeting in Denton, a District 7 Executive Committee Meeting,
an Automation Committee Meeting and a A.L.A. local arrangement
Committee Meeting.

COMMITTEE REPORTS
Bill Foreman reported that he had consulted with members of
the City Council and determinded the procedure for having the Genealogy
Room named in honor of an individual. The chairman requested that
Mr. Forman and Brenda Ashford prepare a formal written request to the City
Council for the board to approve at its next meeting.
Chuck Canton discussed a possible market for used books for
the friends.
Sue Eichelberger reported that she had sent a note to Vi
Meyer as requested by the Board.
The Chairman requested that a note be sent to the City Council
expressing the Borad's appreciation for the joint dinner meeting with the
Council.
NEW BUSINESS
The April Board meeting will be held on April 12th.
The Board discussed the 1984 Texas Library Assn. ballots which
had been sent to all the Board members.
The Board members expressed their appreciation for the opportunity
to meet with the City Council prior to the Board meeting to discuss future
needs of the Library.
The Librarian circulated a survey which she had prepared for the
Assistant City Manager, comparing the size. of the Euless Public Library to
other area libraries.
The Board was very pleased with the Library coverage included in
the Spring Recreation Department Bulletin.
The Librarian reminded the Board members of the Texas State Library
workshop for library board members to be held in Weatherford on May 1, 1984.
The Librarian requested volunteers to help with a Building Use/Library
Service Survey and Materials Availability Survey to be conducted in the Library
the week of April 9-14. Each of the Board members indicated a time they would
be available to assist with the survey. _
In response to a request from the Assistant City Manager to
review possible revenue generating services, a number of items were discussed
but no formal action was taken by the Board regarding increase in fees or
institution of fees for any library services.
