Euless Public Library Board of Trustees

CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Euless Public Library Board of Trustees
was called to order at 7: 15 p.m. by Chairman Sonja Adams in the Fuller Room.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The minutes of the meeting of November 3, 1983 were approved with
the following typographical corrections:
(a) p. 1, line 1 of Approval of minutes - October
(b) p. 1, line 1 of Statistical Report -an increase
(c) p. 2, line 2 of item 3 under New Business members
LIBRARIAN'S REPORT
A. Statistical Report
Total circulation for November was 8,572, an increase of 18% over
the same period last year. There were 326 registrations in November,
with 80 out of the city and 6 out of the county. Twelve requests
for interlibrary loans were made, with 14 items received. There
were 325 in-house reference questions and 391 by telephone.
Fifty-two reserves were checked out. Videocassettes were checked
out 649 times and video games 194 times. Micro computers were
checked out 17 times, cameras 2 times, and 16 art prints were checked
out.
B. Genealogy Room
There were 57 visits to the Genealogy Room, with 13 (23%) being
from Euless.
C. Children's Services
There were 10 story time sessions, with 176 children and 24 adults
attending. There were two special film programs for 23 children
and 5 adults.
D. Volunteers
Two volunteers contributed a total of 14 hours in November.

E. Reports and Meetings
The Librarian attended meetings of the American Library Association
Local Arrangements Committee, the Automation Committee and the
Adult Basic Education Council. She reported that since July 1, 1983,
125 persons had enrolled in the Adult Basic Education Program at the
Library and 20 G.E.D. 's had been awarded. Mrs. Yarbrough also
attended, along with Lynn Shackelford of Public Works, a workshop
on planning library buildings.
Committee Reports
Chairman Sonja Adams reported that the Friends Used Book Store at
the Community Center would continue until December 17.
Communications
The Chairman circulated minutes of Hurst Library Board Meetings.
Unfinished Business
The Librarian reported that the new book drop cover has been
installed and no problems were detected during recent rains.
New Business
Reference Librarian Sally Cook and Sue Morrow, head of Circulation,
attended the six-week training session for supervisors sponsored by the City.
At the end of that workshop all the Library staff attended a session for all
City employees who have direct contact with the public.
Following an inquiry from Bill Foreman, the Chairman asked that
he investigate the procedure for having the Genealogy Room named in honor
of an ind vidual.

There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 7:55 p.m.
