HomeMy WebLinkAbout1983-07-07 Regular Meeting Euless Public Library Board of Trustees July 7, 1983 CALL TO ORDER The regular meeting of the Euless Public Library Board of Trustees was called to order at 7:12pm by Chairman Sonja Adams in the Fuller Room of the Library. Members Present Members Absent Sue Eichelberger Chuck Canton Rod Ashford Bill Foreman David Sallee (new member) Brenda Ashford Staff Present Betty Yarbrough, Librarian APPROVAL OF MINUTES The minutes of the meeting dated June 9, 1983 were approved as written. LIBRARIAN'S REPORT A. Statistical report Total circulation for June was 13,643, an increase of 6% over the same period last year. Average daily circulation was 525 items per day. There were 428 registrations, with 97 out of the city and 11 out of the county. Fourteen requests for interlibrary loan were made, with 13 items being received. There were 253 in-house reference questions and 53 by telephone. Twenty-five reserves were checked out. Twenty-two art prints were checked out, 642 videocassettes, 189 video games and 6 computers. B. Genealogy Room There were 66 visits in June, with 22 (33%) being from Euless. C. Children's Services Twenty-two story time sessions were held, with 562 children and 35 adults attending. Six puppet shows and one special program for a day care outing were conducted for a total of 232 children and 34 adults. D. Volunteers Nine volunteers contributed 822 hours in June. E. Reports and Meetings The Librarian attended North Texas Library System Advisory Council Meeting in Denton and a Texas Library Association District 7 Executive Committee Meeting. Euless Public Library of Trustees - Regular Meeting July 7, 1983 - Page Two COMMITTEE REPORTS Chairman Sonja Adams reported on her meeting with Mr. Sustaire and Mr. Hart regarding the need for future expansion of library facilities. The Board reviewed graphs prepared by Board member Chuck Canton reflecting three year statistical information on circulation and future personnel needs. Library Expansion Committee Chairman Bill Foreman will present this information to Mr. Sustaire. COMMUNICATIONS The Chairman circulated minutes of the Hurst Library Board meeting and the North Texas Library System "Roundup". NEW BUSINESS The Librarian reported 513 children were registered for the Summer Reading Club. Four Polaroid Sun Cameras are now available in the Library for check-out. Sally Cook, the Reference Librarian and Sue Morrow in Circulation attended a Personnel Relations workshop. Sally Cook also attended a video production work shop. The Board reviewed the newspaper articles which have been published by the Northeast Edition of the Star Telegram on various community library services. The September meeting of Library Board will be held on September 8th rather than the regularly scheduled date. UNFINISHED BUSINESS Election of Officers was conducted and the following slate of Board officers was approved: Sonja Adams - Chairman Chuck Canton - Vice Chairman Brenda Ashford - Secretary ADJOURNMENT There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 8:15pm.
