HomeMy WebLinkAbout1982-02-04 Regular Meeting Euless Public Library Board of Trustees February 4, 1982 CALL TO ORDER The regular meeting of the Euless Public Library Board of Trustees was called to order by Chairman Bill Foreman at 7:04 P.M. in the Fuller Room in the Library. Members Present Staff Present Sue Eichelberger, New member Betty Yarbrough, Librarian Dave Haigler, 2nd. Alternate Doug Adamson, Alternate Absent Sonja Adams Sis Perkins Peggy Waller Marilyn Adamson APPROVAL OF MINUTES The minutes of the meeting dated January 7, 1982 were approved as written with the following spelling correction: Page 2, Paragraph 4, Hobo Bobo. Chairman Bill Foreman introduced two new board members - Sue Eichelberger and Dave Haigler. LIBRARIANS REPORT Total circulation for January was 7,187 compared to 6,804 the previous year. There were 320 new registrations with 72 being out of the City and 4 out of the county. Twelve requests for inter-library loans were made with 17 pieces of material received. There were 235 in house reference questions, 269 by phone with 83 reserves checked out. GENEALOGY There were eighty visits with 31(39%) being from Euless. VIDEOCASSETTES In January 186 videocassettes were checked out . STORYTIME Ten sessions were held with 183 children and twenty-three adults attending. Euless Public Library of Trustees Regular Meeting February 4, 1982 - Page Two REPORTS AND MEETINGS Volunteers contributed ten hours of work in January. John and James Rucker each donated 5 hours of time to the library for their Boy Scout Merit badge. Mrs. Yarbrough attended the PLANT (Public Library Association of North Texas) meeting in Grapevine, the TRLA (Tarrant Regional Library Association) meeting in Bedford, the Automation Committee meeting of the NTLS (North Texas Library System) , and the Tarrant Library Project Committee of which Mrs. Yarbrough is a member attended the County Commissioners budget hearing. The Board wishes to thank the Council for the $1500 the library is to receive from the Community Betterment Funds. This money will be used to purchase designated books. Mrs. Yarbrough reported the Library Board minutes are sent to the board members, the council members, the city manager, the city attorney and the Mid-Cities Daily News. Bill Foreman requested they also be sent to the President of the Friends and the President of the Mid-Cities Genealogy Society. Meredith McMannis, Children Librarian, received a letter of thanks from a Birdville School District teacher for research information she provided for the teacher over the phone. Mrs. Yarbrough reported the Texas Library Association Conference will be held in Fort Worth March 30 - April 4th. The Friends Book Sale will be held on August 27 and 28th at Northeast Mall. Bill Foreman reviewed the responsibilities, goals and personal interests of the board with the new members. Mrs. Yarbrough requested any ideas for additional identification on people who do not have a Texas drivers license or a Texas nondrivers identi- fication card. This information is used to locate overdue books. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 8:35 P.M.
