Euless Public Library Board of Trustees
October 1, 1981
CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Euless Public Library Board of
Trustees was called to order by Chairman Bill Foreman at 7:03 P.M. in
the Fuller Room of the Library.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The minutes of the meeting dated August 6, 1981 were
approved as written.
No meeting was held in September.
LIBRARIAN'S REPORT
Mrs. Yarbrough reported circulation for September at 6,167
with one year ago being 6,993. The total circulation for the year was
84,102 compared to 102,068 for the previous year. There are two reasons
for circulation being down. One year ago Lakewood Elementary School borrowed
500 books which were automatically renewed every 2 weeks. Secondly on
February 1, 1981 the check out period was changed from 2 weeks to 3 weeks.
There were 297 new registrations with 61 being out of the city and 4 out
of the county. Total registrations for the year was 6,467. Five requests
for inter-library loans were made with 16 pieces received. Eight micro-
films were received and 48 reserves were checked. There were 59 in house
reference questions and 193 by phone.
GENEALOGY ROOM
There were 57 visits with 28 (49%) being from Euless.
VIDEOCASSETTE
One-hundred eighty nine videocassette were checked out in
September.
STORYTIME
Storytime held 10 sessions with 191 children and 31 adults
attending.

REPORTS AND MEETINGS
Mrs. Yarbrough attended the System Advisory Council in
Azle and the TRLA meeting in Hurst. Also she was honored to be in-
vited as 1 of a group of 25 alumni and employers of Texas Womens
University Library Science graduate to meet with the Re-accreditation
Committee of the American Library Association.
The board recommended that Sonja Adams be the lay represent-
ative to the North Texas Library System Advisory Council .
ANNIVERSARY COMMITTEE
Sis Perkins reported on her committee for the Anniversary
Party that will be held on Sunday November 15, 1981 .
BUILDING AND BUILDING UTILIZATION COMMITTEE
Bill Foreman reported on a book he has that deals with
space problems in libraries.
Sonja Adams received favorable response in her calls
requesting that part of the contributions from the water billings be
used for the purchase of books. It was learned this is already stated
on the billings . Bill Foreman and Sonja Adams will prepare a letter showing
the increase of cost of books compared to the increase in budget for
the City Council .
Mrs. Yarbrough reported they will be getting a Childrens
Librarian and will soon be interviewing to fill the position.
Mrs . Yarbrough stated the HEB AARP is giving a $1000 gift
to each of the HEB libraries to be used for the senior citizens. Our
greatest area of need is in the large print collection and books on tape.
Nina Winters is a volunteer working 2 mornings a week in the
library.
Mrs . Yarbrough has contacted the Elementary School Librarians
and will be meeting with them to coordinate plans for Book Week.
Mrs . Yarbrough received notification the library has received
full accrediation for membership in the Texas Library System for the Fiscal
year 1982.

fhe library will receive $1875 in state funds and approx-
imately $1664 in federal funds .
The Euless Public Library will host the TRLA meeting on
October 16, 1981 .

There being no further business the meeting adjourned at
8:12 P.M.
