Euless Public Library Board of Trustees
August 6, 1981
CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Euless Public Library
Board of Trustees was called to order by Chairman Bill Foreman
at 7 : 06 P. M. in the Fuller Room of the Library .

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The minutes of the meeting dated June 4, 1981 , were
approved with the following correction : Under Librarian Report ,
line 4 , should read ' changing of the check out period ' instead
of changing the renewal period.
Mr. Foreman, Chairman, has not been receiving the
minutes in the mail .
There was no meeting in July due to lack of quorum.
LIBRARIAN' S REPORT
Betty Yarbrough reported circulation for June at 11 ,675
and July at 9,498 with one year ago being 12 , 988 and 12 ,692 .
There were 610 new registrations in June and 351 in July. In
June 107 of these were out of town and in July 71 were out of
town and 3 out of the County . In June there were 58 in house
reference questions and 53 in July . June had 160 questions by
phone and July 147. 14 requests for inter-library loans were
made in June with 19 pieces received. Eleven microfilms were
received with 92 reserves checked out . In July 17 requests were
made for 8 pieces received plus 10 xerox pieces . Five micro-
films were received with 96 reserves checked out .

GENEALOGY ROOM
In June there were 49 visits with 19 (38%) from Euless .
In July there were 43 visits with 16 (37%) from Euless .
STORYTIME
In June , Storytime (Pre-School) held 12 sessions with
225 children and 30 adults attending. Library Madness (Elemen-
tary) held 3 sessions with 74 children and 3 adults attending .
In July, Storytime (Pre-School) had 14 sessions with 241 children
and 34 adults attending. Library Madness (Elementary) had 4
sessions with 41 children and 5 adults attending. In June the
Feature Film had 2 showings with 108 children and 11 adults
attending. July had 2 showings , 133 children and 10 adults .
In July Mrs . Kjell gave a book talk at one of the sessions as
Mrs. Yarbrough was out of town . This was greatly appreciated.
REPORTS AND MEETINGS
In June Mrs . Yarbrough attended a Censorship Workshop,
a Library Interiors Workshop and the City Council budget
hearings . In July she attended the PLANT meeting on Cable TV,
the NETLS Workshop on reference services to business and the
Annual Assembly in Austin.
In July two Boy Scouts worked at the Library as they
were working on their Merit badge .
Safeway distributed 2 ,385 ,600 grocery bags with
questions on the back stating to call your local library for
the answer. They were used in a 7 , 600 square mile area and
reached 4z million people.
Mrs . Yarbrough reported the Heatly rider concerning
the libraries was deleted by the legislators . If the current
bill is signed it will appropriate 29c per capita for the
libraries .
Mrs. Yarbrough had some ideas for the Adult Aware-
ness Committee. Movies are available from the Police Depart-
ment on home protection and rape prevention . Some of the local
people have volunteered to present programs on genealogy ,
simple auto repair and how to be a clown.

Sis Perkins reported on the Anniversary Committee
and will be appointing committees soon . The Anniversary Party
date is set for Sunday , November 15 , 1981 .
The name of the Building Committee will be changed
to the Building and Building Utilization Committee with Bill
Foreman, Chairman .
Mrs . Yarbrough reported it would be very difficult
to change the number of board members , however, it would be
possible to have two alternates .
Sonja Adams presented two clippings from the paper
concerning the library. A motion was made by Sonja Adams to
recommend to the City Council that part of the contribution
from the community through the water billings be used in
services provided through the library . The motion was seconded
by Marilyn Adamson. Motion carried.
Mrs . Yarbrough will be absent at the September 3
meeting due to vacation .
