Euless Public Library Board of Trustees
June 4 , 1981
CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Euless
Public Library Board of Trustees was called to order by Chairman
Bill Foreman at 7: 20 p.m. in the Fuller Room of the library.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The minutes of the meeting dated
April 9 , 1981, were approved with the following correction; on
page two, paragraph I, under Reports, it should read Texas Library
Conference instead of East Texas Library Conference.
There was no meeting in May due
to lack of quorum.
LIBRARIAN' S REPORT
Betty Yarbrough reported circulation
for April, 1981, at 5, 569 and May at 5, 945, with one year ago being
7, 765 and 7, 434. The circulation will not be as high this year due
to the changing of the renewal from two weeks to three weeks . There
were 361 new registrations in April with 281 adults and 80 juveniles .
In May there were 392 new registrations with 282 adults and 110
juveniles. In April there were 103 in-house reference questions
and 120 by phone. In May there were 89 in-house reference questions
and 173 by phone. Twenty-seven requests for inter-library loans
were made in April with 10 pieces received. Five microfilms were
received with 66 reserves checked out. In May 15 requests for
inter-library loans were made with 14 pieces received. No new
microfilms were received but 109 reserves were checked out.
GENEALOGY ROOM
In April there were 56 visits with
22 (39%) from Euless. One visitor was from Oklahoma. In May there
were 44 visits with 25 (57%) from Euless.

STORYTIME '
In April Storytime held 13 sessions
with 238 children and 32 adults attending. In May there were 10
sessions with 201 children and 26 adults attending.
VIDEO CASSETTE PROGRAM
In April 73 video cassettes were
checked out and May had 86 checked out.
LIBRARY TOURS
Mrs. Yarbrough had 4 tours in May
with 96 children and 15 adults attending.
REPORTS AND MEETINGS
On April 8th there was a National
Library Week Program with 80 children and 4 adults attending. The
school librarians helped coordinate the program.
Mrs. Yarbrough also attended the
Texas Library Association meeting in Houston, the TRLA Workshop
in Haltom City and Euless, the Video Production Workshop at
Lewisville and the annual meeting of the North Texas Library System.
In May she attended the PLANT
meeting in Carrolton, the TRLA meeting, and the Reading Is Funda-
mental meeting. Mrs. Yarbrough visited 64 classrooms in 6 schools
concerning the Summer Reading Club.
The Library is keeping their CETA
worker and a young boy is expected to begin working soon.
A workshop on Censorship will be
held on Wednesday, June 10, at the Hurst Library.
Mrs. Yarbrough reported the Library
will be 20 years old in November and perhaps some kind of celebration
can be planned.
NEW BUSINESS
Election of officers was held with
the following officers installed.

The Board discussed the need to
increase the Board to seven (7) members with two (2) alternates.
Mrs. Yarbrough will report on this at the July meeting.
The following Committees were
formed; Adult Awareness with Peggy Waller Chairman, Building
Committee with Bill Foreman Chairman, and the Anniversary Committee
with Sis Perkins Chairman.
Mrs. Yarbrough reported the North
Texas Library System is sponsoring a quiz on all grocery bags
used by Safeway. This will be very good publicity for the library.

meeting adjourned at 8 : 10 p.m.
