Euless Public Library Board of Trustees
April 9 „ 1981
CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Euless
Public Library Board of Trustees was called to order by Chairman
Bill Foreman at 7: 05 p.m. in the Fuller Room of the Library.
Other members present were Betty Pottoff, Marilyn Adamson and
Doug Adamson, Alternate.
Also attending were Betty Yarbrough,
Librarian, and Mrs. Willie Mae McCormick, Mayor Pro Tem.
Absent were Sis Perkins, excused,
Sonja Adams and Peggy Waller.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The minutes of the meeting dated
March 5 were not distributed; therefore, they could not be
approved.
LIBRARIANS REPORT
Betty Yarbrough reported circulation
for March at 7, 057 with one year ago at 8 , 884 . There were 500 new
registrations with 398 adults and 102 juveniles, 93 of the re-
gistrations were out of town and six were out of the County. There
were 97 walk-in reference questions and 61 by phone. Nineteen
requests for inter-library loans were made with 22 pieces received.
Eight microfilms were received with 85 reserves check out.
GENEALOGY ROOM
In March there were 71 visits with
31 (44%) being from Euless.
STORYTIME
Storytime held 12 sessions with 283
children and 51 adults attending.
VIDEO CASSETTE PROGRAM
Thirty-four video cassettes were
checked out.

LIBRARY TOURS
Mrs. Yarbrough had 3 tours of the
library with 160 children participating and 35 adults.
REPORTS
Mrs. Yarbrough attended the follow-
ing meetings: A reception for Linda Alman, the new Director of
the Fort Worth Public Library, the regular TRLA meeting, the
Advisory Council meeting and the East Texas Library Conference
in Houston.
Mrs . Yarbrough reported the Texas
Legislature has not voted on the funding bill and requests the
public to continue writing to their legislators. The Euless
Public Library received $6 , 510. 00 in County funds for 1981.
All board members are invited to
attend the semi-annual meeting of the Library System to be held
on May 14, 1981.
The Friends of the Library annual
book sale will be held on April 10 and 11, 1981.
Mrs. Yarbrough explained the
application for a library card.
The Euless Public Library will
be hosting a TRLA work shop with Margaret Nickels as the guest
speaker on April 14 , 1981.
Mrs. Yarbrough handed out a brochure
'What To Do Before The Censor Comes - And After' published by
the American Library Association.
Mrs. Yarbrough stated the need to
revise the By-Laws on page 7 under fines. A motion was made and
seconded that the Council increase overdue fines for library
materials to 5c per day excluding Sundays and holidays with a
maximum of $5. 00 per item, not to exceed the cost of the item.
The motion passed.
Bill Foreman suggested that the
Board set up committees to help fulfill the goals and objectives
of the Euless Public Library at the May meeting. All board
members should review this list to find areas they would like
to help with.
