Regular Meeting
Euless Public Library Board of Trustees
March 5, 1981
CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Euless
Public Library Board of Trustees was called to order at 7 :03
p.m. in the Fuller Room of the Library by Board Member Sis Perkins .
Other members present were Betty Pottoff , Peggy Waller and
Marilyn Adamson. Absent were Bill Foreman and Sonja Adams .
Also attending were Betty Yarbrough ,
Librarian , and Mrs . Willie Mae McCormick, Mayor Pro Tem.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The minutes of the regular meeting
dated February 5, 1981 , were approved with the following corrections :
Marilyn Adamson was present and Peggy Waller was absent due to
illness. On page 2 , paragraph 2 , it should read "the Advisory
Council for the North Texas Library System" .
LIBRARIANS REPORT
Betty Yarbrough reported circulation
for February was 6, 595, with one year ago at 7 ,492 . There were
589 new registrations with 490 adults and 99 juveniles registering.
There were 111 of the new registrations from out of the City.
There were sixty-seven walk-in reference questions and seventy-
nine by telephone. There were twenty-two requests for inter-
library loans made with six pieces received. Seven microfilms
were received with forty-eight reserves checked out . Last year
Lakewood Elementary School borrowed five hundred books which were
automatically renewed every two weeks , therefore, making the
circulation one thousand higher each month. This explains why the
1981 circulation report is less than in 1980.
GENEALOGY ROOM
In February there were forty-eight
visits with twenty-five (52%) being from Euless.
STORYTIME
Storytime held eighteen sessions with
137 children and twenty-three adults attending.
VIDEO CASSETTE PROGRAM
Forty-six video cassettes were checked
out with forty-six showings and 109 viewers.
MEETINGS
Mrs. Yarbrough attended an Open
House on February 1 at the Grapevine Public Library.
On February 10 Mrs. Yarbrough
attended a cable tv workshop on program planning. She gave part
of a Childrens Services workshop at the Grapevine Public Library
and one at the Olney Public Library. She also attended the
Public Library Administrators of North Texas meeting, the Advisory
Council meeting and the TRLA meeting.
REPORTS
The Girl Scouts are exhibiting in
the Library this month. The HEB elementary schools will be
exhibiting art work on the bulleting board.
Mrs. Yarbrough reported the annual
report has been mailed to the State Library.
Sis Perkins reported from the
Friends of the Library that the book sale will be April 10 and
11 at the Northeast Mall.
Mrs. Yarbrough reported on the
Legislative Committee hearing held in Austin in regards to the
Appropriations Bill. They asked everyone, including children ,
to continue to call or write to the legislators .
NEW BUSINESS
Due to Mrs. Yarbrough attending the
Texas Library Conference in Houston on April 2 , the Board moved
the regular meeting date to April 9.
Mrs. Yarbrough reported on the need
to revise the procedures of the library under FINES - Section 1.
OLD BUSINESS
The Board recommended to the Librarian
the acceptance of the Right to Life packet of books . These books
are now being processed for placement on the shelves.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business , the
meeting adjourned at 7 : 35 p.m.
