EULESS PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES
February 5, 1981
CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Euless
Public Library Board of Trustees was called to order by Chairman
Bill Foreman at 7: 05 p.m. in the Fuller Room of the Library.
Other members present were Sonja Adams, Sis Perkins, and Betty
Pottoff.
Also attending were Betty Yarbrough,
Librarian and Mrs. Willie Mae McCormick, Mayor Pro Tem.
Guests attending were Tamita Pasteur,
Carolyn Caton, Billie Eisher, Sherry Jones, Jim Ryan, and Mr.
and Mrs. Hagler and children.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The minutes of the regular meeting
dated January 8, 1981, were approved as read.
LIBRARIAN' S REPORT
Betty Yarbrough reported circulation
for January at 6, 804 with one year ago at 8, 668 . There were
754 new registrations with 599 adults and 155 juveniles, 140
of the new registrations were out of town and 5 were out of the
county. There were 103 walk-in reference questions and 93 by
phone. Twenty requests for inter-library loans were made with
12 pieces received. Nine microfilms were received with 79
reserves checked out.
GENEALOGY ROOM
In January there were 34 visits with
17 (50%) being from Euless.
STORYTIME
Storytime held 12 sessions with 226
children and 33 adults attending.
VIDEO CASSETTE PROGRAM
There were 95 video cassettes checked
out with 101 showings and 239 viewers. In January there were
14 new contracts.

REPORTS
Mrs. Yarbrough had one tour of the
library which was the PEAK Class from the South Euless Elementary
School with 10 children and 1 adult.
Mrs. Yarbrough attended a farewell,
hosted by TRLA, for Mrs. Fisher which was in the Fuller Room of
the Euless Public Library. She also attended the TRLA meeting
held in Hurst and the Advisory Council for the Fort Worth Public
Libraries.
The Mid-Cities Genealogy Society has
a display in the display case at the library. Maxine Tidwell
has loaned her oil and pastel paintings to the library for two
months.
OLD BUSINESS
Sonja Adams reported the Hurst Library
Board operates in much the same manner as the Euless Library Board
with special committees appointed when needed. Mrs. McCormick
reported the Bedford Library Board also operates similar to the
Euless Board. Bill Foreman will talk to Mr. Ted Hornick of Plano
in regards to their extensive committee program.
Mrs. Yarbrough handed out a list of
goals and objectives for the Euless Public Library. These were
reviewed and discussed with possible survey and programs held
to help meet these objectives . Sis Perkins will send this list
of goals and objectives to the Friends of the Library for
comments or additions.
Betty Yarbrough reported on the
Appropriations Bill which is in committee in Austin. A very
large turnout was reported at this hearing with the Senators
not being in favor of the rider. Patricia Spear will keep
Mrs.Yarbrough posted on the progress of this bill. They ask
that everyone continue to call or write to the Legislators
regarding this bill.
NEW BUSINESS
Carolyn Caton, representing the Right
to Life group presented a request for the Library to place on its
shelves a packet of books they have donated to the library.

After further discussion the Board stated they will make a re-
commendation to the Librarian at next months meeting.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 8:20 p.m.
