There were 49 video cassettes checked
out with 86 showings and 352 viewers .
Mrs . Yarbrough explained the inter-
library loan request program.
NEW BUSINESS
Mrs. Yarbrough reported on the re-
quest for more funds per capita from the State Legislative Budget
Board. She handed out a letter to all board members from Patricia
Spear, Coordinator, explaining this request . Mrs . Yarbrough also
explained the advantages of belonging to the North Texas Library
System. She also noted until the committees are set in Austin on
January 13 , there is no need to write to the legislators .
Mr. Foreman reviewed the evaluation
report made by Patricia Spear in August 1979 concerning the Euless
Public Library. However with the new census figures the Euless
Library will remain a community library instead of an area library;
therefore we are meeting all the requirements . Another suggestion
was the availability of space. One way is with the re-evaluation
of library materials . Mrs . Yarbrough reported they were working
on this . Another way is to increase the area for books .
Bill Foreman is going to visit with
Mr. Ted. Hornick, who is the Chairman of the Library Board in
Plano, concerning the responsibilities of each of their committees .
They have 1 or 2 more board members than the Euless Board; however
they have 12 committees formed. It was also suggested we get ideas
on what the other Library Boards in the area are doing and perhaps
consolidate these ideas for the formation of our committees .
Mrs . Yarbrough reported she and Mrs .
Armstrong will attend the Texas Library Conference in Austin on
the first Thursday in April. She will decide later if she will
send an alternate to the board meeting.
She also asked for comments from the
board concerning the changing of the check-out time from 2 weeks
to 3 weeks . The fine will be raised from 3 cents per day to 5 cents
per day. Everyone approved.
Last meeting Betty Pottoff asked for
some goals and objectives of the Library. Mrs . Yarbrough handed
out a list to each of the board members . These will be discussed
at a later meeting.
