Euless Public Library Board of Trustees
September 4, 1980
CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Euless
Public Library Board of Trustees was called to order at 7 :30 p.m. ,
in the Fuller Room of the Library, by Chairman Bill Foreman .
Other members present were Sonja Adams , Betty Potthoff , Peggy
Waller, Sis Perkins , and Doug Adamson , Alternate. Absent was
Marilyn Adamson.
Also attending were Betty Yarbrough ,
Children ' s Librarian ; Geneva Armstong, Librarian; and Willie Mae
McCormick, Mayor Pro Tem.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The minutes of the regular meeting
dated August 7 , 1980, were approved as read.
LIBRARIAN' S REPORT
Mrs. Armstrong reported circulation
was up six percent (6%) over the same period one year ago. The
total circulation for August was 9 , 580. There were 224 new
registrations , with 173 adult and 51 juveniles. There were twenty-
two walk-in reference questions and eighty-seven by telephone.
There were eleven requests for inter-library loans with twenty-
nine pieces of material sent in response. There were fifty-eight
reserved books checked out .
Mrs. Armstrong reported on the letter
received by the North Texas Library System from the Euless City
Council approving Barbara Zieschang and Peggy Waller as lay
representatives.
Mrs. Armstrong reported the overdue
book policy is still working great .
Mrs. Armstrong reported the North
Texas Library System' s Advisory Council met September 4 and
election of officer was held, with Patricia Spear being the official
coordinator.
Mrs. Yarbrough reported on Storytime -
ten showings with 219 children and thirty-seven adults attending.
Afternoon at the Library had seven showings with 191 children and
twenty-two adult attending. The special film - Pippi Longstocking -

had three showings with 163 children and fourteen adults attending.
The Summer Reading Club had 674 sign up with 29% receiving certi-
ficates. The video cassettes had a circulation of 32 , with 43
showing and 120 viewers.
Mrs. Yarbrough wrote thank you letters
to the six elementary schools visited last spring and advised
them of the number of children participating in the summer programs.
Mrs. Yarbrough had a gentleman offer
to donate cassettes to the library, which were accepted.
GENEALOGY ROOM
In August forty-one persons made sixty-
seven visits :

OLD BUSINESS
A discussion was held regarding the
library budget . Mrs . Armstrong reported the library will have to
close six to eight per hours per week to stay within the budget .
Betty Yarbrough reported on the changes
in the By-Laws :
On page 6 under limitations - this should read : Seasonal or
currently in demand material may be limited by the Librarian .
Limitations may change or vary with the development of
the collection.
On page 6 under General Loan Policy - No. 3 should
read: Identification can be a valid driver 's license
(number noted) or a Texas Highway Department Non-driver ' s
ID.
On page 7 under fines - No. 1 should read: Fines for overdue
library materials will be 3c per day. No 2 should read :
Overdue charge for 16 MM film not returned within the
specified time if $2 . 00 per day. Overdue cassettes is $1 . 00
per day. This charge is set by the Library System Services
of the North Texas Library System.

A motion was made by Peggy Waller that
these changes be made.
Betty Potthoff seconded the motion and
the motion carried.
Betty Yarbrough reported the Library
Bill of Rights was last amended January 23 , 1980, by the American
Library Council. This copy should replace all previous copies.
Mrs . Armstrong reported a general
meeting of the Friends of the Library will be held in October.
Bill Foreman read the letter written
by Barbara Zieschang to the school administration in appreciation
of hiring two new professional librarians. All board members
signed the letter.
NEW BUSINESS
The Euless Public Library will be hosting
the TRLA on Friday, September 19, 1980. Mrs. Armstrong asked for
cookies to be donated for this meeting.
Mrs. Yarbrough reported for Barbara
Zieschang on the Tarrant County Library Study Committee. She
said she would like each board member to contact or write their
county commissioner about libraries and have as many board members
as possible to attend their meeting on September 15 , 1980, at the
courthouse in Fort Worth.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business , the
meeting adjourned at 8:21 p.m.
