be members of the Texas Library Association. The City will pay your dues,

what is happening to libraries in Texas. Joining is strictly optional . The

pertain to us. Betty Potthoff would like to receive the journal , also.
As of Monday, June 11 , the library will lift the limit of 5 books in the
fiction area. The library will still limit people to 2 volumes on a partic-

in May. Reserves on books totaled 65.

(April ) that they had overdue books. There are still 122 people who have
overdue books.
In the children ' s section there are 212 students signed up for the
summer reading program. In the 5 story time sessions on June 7, 187 children
were present with 92 at the 1 :00 p.m. session. Nancy Barber has volunteered
to help during story times. Publicity on the summer reading program went out
with the Parks and Recreation mail-out. This has brought much response.
Posters were put up during registration at the Simmons Center. It does help
for the departments to work together.

GENEALOGY ROOM
For the months of February and March there were 117 people using the
room - 57 Euless 48.7%, 17 Hurst 14.5%, 15 Bedford 12.8%, 9 Irving 7.6%, 8
Fort Worth 5. 1%, and 7 miscellaneous.
For the month of May there were 54 people who used the room - 41 Euless
75.9%, 4 Hurst 7.4%, 6 Bedford 11 . 1%, 2 Grapevine 3.7%, and 1 Fort Worth
1 .8%.
Bill Foreman reported that we should be receiving some new books from
contributions. The Mid Cities Genealogy Society in connection with the
L. D. S. Church is sponsoring a seminar-workshop for the day. The money made
from this will be divided. He feels that this will be used to add some
books to the room.
FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY
Sis Perkins talked to a lady in the Richland Hills group to see what
kind of organization they had. The started out having meetings, but this
has not worked out. Now, they get all of the ladies who are interested in
the Book Sale and want to work on it together and go from there. There is
no magic formula! They do consult with the people at the library to see
what is needed. Everyone seems to be having the same problems.
(Page Three, Regular Meeting, Euless Public Library Board of Trustees)
We discussed the publicity concerning this organization -- people who
can join, what the group does, how we can get more people involved, and
etc.
There will be no president this year. Everyone will work together.
It was recommended that Sis talk to some other groups. Mrs. Yarbrough
suggested she talk to the Grapevine group.
Dotty requested that a sign be put up on the library bulletin asking
for people to help the Friends of the Library. We need to promote the
organization.
Bill Foreman suggested that we contact various organizations in the
community about donating books to the sale. The books that the schools
discord each year were discussed. It was told that these books cannot be
donated for a sale. They have to be destroyed according to the law. It
was decided that we will try announcing to these organizations about our
sale and ask that they bring the books to the library.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
Dotty Ragley asked if there was any news about the ordinance that the
library has been asking about for two years. To the new members, this is an
ordinance that we have requested to the City Council to check with the City
Attorney to see if we could get something done to get our books back from
the people who have them out. There was no new information on this subject.
Mrs. Yarbrough passed out a rough draft of the new by-laws. Mrs.
Armstrong asked that we look over these and make comments at the next meeting.
Betty Potthoff moved that we change the date of the next meeting from
July 5 to July 12. Brad Hassard seconded the motion. Motion carried with
