HomeMy WebLinkAbout1977-11-03 EUI ,SS PUBT:IC LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES Regular Meeting November 3, 1977 CALL TO ORDER The regular meeting of the Euless Library Board was called to order at 7: 35 P.M. by Dottie Ragley, Chairman. Members attending: Roy Blood Inez Morrison Sis Perkins Dottie Ragley Members Absent : Bill McCray (called in his excuse) Norma Morelock Also attending, Geneva Armstrong, Librarian and Mayor Pro Tem Willie Mae McCormick. MINUTES The minutes were corrected on the North Texas Library System to read as follows: Barbara Zieschang announced that she was no longer on the Major Resource System Council as of the 6th of October. LIBRARIAN'S REPORT Mrs. Armstrong The circulation record shows an increase of 9.7% up from this time last year. The District VII Annual Meeting at Runaway Bay at Bridgeport was very successful. Mrs. Armstrong was disappointed that none of the Board members could attend. She said the Saturday afternoon program was very interesting, there were two points of views on the Roll of the Library Board of Trustees , one was from the city point of view, and the other was from the viewpoint of the Library Board. Baker and Taylor Jobbers had a New Book Show Case in Fort Worth on the 26,27 and 28 of October. Mrs. Armstrong attended Wednesday afternoon, all day Thursday and Friday afternoon.. Mrs. Covington, Children's Librarian attended(' Thursday afternoon and all day Friday. Miss Cooke ,Reference Librarian, attended Thursday afternoon. A group rate was paid by TRLA for all members. There were representatives from many mjor publishers. Mr. George Plimpton was guest speaker on Thursday morning, he gave a gnereal talk on his books. Dr. James Lynch, speaker on Thursday afternoon. His talk was on his book "The Broken Heart. " NORTH TEXAS LIBRARY SYSTEM Dottie Ragley Dottie Ragley attended the North Texas Library System Planning Committee meeting at North Richland Hills Library from 10:00 a.m. to 12: 30 on the 3rd of November 1977. Items to be considered for inclusion in a questionaire to be sent to the Librarians and Council members in December were discussed. The libraries from 21 counties totaling 40 libraries EUL'ESS PUBTIC LIBRA BOARD Nov. 3, 1977 — page 2 NORTH TEXAS LIBRARY SYSTEM (cont) would h_ tre approximately $402,611 in total system grant. Some of the areas considered were Consulting Services, Continuing Education, Local Programming Assistance, Collection Enrichment, Rotating Collections, Automation Plans, Public Information andPrinting Services. The ones that got the most support were ,Public Information, Printing Services and Collection Enrichment. Mr. Sam Douglas of the Fort Worth Public Library was selected as Secretary and. Dotty Ragley of Euless as Chairman of the Planning Committee. HISTORIAN Inez Morrison The new Scrap Book is up to date. FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY Sis Perkins The Executive -gBoard of the Friends had a meeting on the 11th of October at Mrs. Perkins home. Mrs. Saleh, the President had written to say that she had to resign. So Mrs. Payton is now the President. There was not a General Meeting in October, but will have one in March. Also the Book Sale will be in March.
