OF MiNUTE - September 2, 1976 With one correction - On page 1 under LIBRARIAN'S RE}ORT the last sentence should have added to it . . . .There were over 100 Readinr Certificates given out ,also a free cone from Dai.rz queen . The minutes were approved as corrected . LIPR,ARI rT ' r PF! ORT Cur Fiscal Year total includes : Fines that amount to 2, r, ; books paid for 1350.00 and the use of the Copy machine was ' x,1472. 'T'here were 13 Tours with the total of 495 people taking the tours . Had 50 Story Hours with 984 people attended . There . were 1 , 170 overdue Notices mailed during the year. The total of Incoming phone calls were 3,641 ; Misc .phone calls were 3,051 ; and reference calls were 590. The Outgroing total was 3,840; Reserves came to a total of 1 ,152 ; Interlibrary loan was 477 ; and misc . was 709. he hooks that were cataloged during the year was 3,/i 56, and the Fon-hook material was 509, which makes a total of 4,428. There wore 682 reserved books out , and 397 Interlibrary Loan rrq;ests . Interlibrary loan requests fillyd with 428, which incli.ded items , books and non-hook material. Cards typed during the year cnme to a total of 19,647. ooti ngs for the month of September 1976 w re : System T,ibrarian ' s , which was held on the 14th September at the Fort 'Forth l'ublic Library: The Tarrant Regional Library Association was held at the Bedford Public Library on the . 17th of September. Parhara Thoarson representing the Library attended the Friends merti rr or the 1st of Oct . The Crafts Workshop of the Library ` yster. Service was held at the Haltom Public Lihr ry on October 5th. There was a burglary on September 22nd. All items were recovered except 3 sets of earphones . � s . (.('11N( 1 T, pop SOCIAL COTT(;l.,RNS -Rarhnrn ', eschang The Collection and Distribution Project of the Council has selected a Hoard of Directors for this activity which met on '"ednesray, Oct . 13, 1976 at the First National Rank in Kuless . The Hoard elemoted orficern , approved their constitution , and made appl i cnti on for a tax-exempt status number wi th 1PS. Free storar*e space has been made available by AAA Persorihl Warehouses of Hurst . As soon as the area has been thoroughly sprayed ror insects and a lock has been installed , the boxed clothing currently he ; nrr stored in the City owned building at T16 Sheppard will he moved ? and the Center for Collection and Distribution will officially open. The collection of clothing has already been dr. awn on by the Council for Social Concerns to help clothe selected children for the beginning of school. Eleven churches have agreed to help stock and staff this Center. "Pound Sundays" asking for specific items will he utilized . Other agencies participating will he Family Service , HER Hospital Social Service , HEBISD Counselors and school nurses , etc . The Collection and Dis- tihuti on Center will gather clothing for children from infancy through high school, basic canned foods and cleaning supplies , and emergency equipment for short term loan to qualified persons . FORT ','ORTH MAJOR RESOURCE SYSTEM - Barbara Zieschang The City of Fort Worth is considering raising the administrative charges to all grants received by the departmentsof the City. This would involve an increase of from 2.9` to 15.7% of the total grant in the case of the FW'RS, an unreasonable and unjustified move . A letter was written by the Advisory Council to the Fort Worth City Council, the City Manager protesting the increase and making specific objections to the new Allocation Plan. Copies of this letter were sent to a].] 38 members of the System, their City governments , Texas State Library Director Dorman Winfrey, Assistant State Librarian Bill Gooch , Chairman of the Texas Library and Historical Commission Bob Davis , Library System fervice Coordinator Bill Duncan,and Center Library Director Mabel Fischer. ?DTTC ATTON P.ND FREVET TTON PROGRAM - Barbara Zieschang Viewing of possible VD films for Junior High , PTA and church groups . Series will he offered to HERISD by a speakers bureau sponsored by JC8s . VD is the first of a list of subjects of which information and speakers-instructors will he located for various groups in the Community. G;;T'm LOGY ROOM I ROJECT - Bill McCray McCray stated that he has four men working on r-et:ting the heating equipment out . It is taking a little time , since they can only do this on their off time . The ! ihrnry Hoard went hack to see how much has been done , and it is really coming along fine.
