Regular Meeting
September 2 , 1976

The meeting was called to order at 7:40 PM by Chairman
Dottie Bagley. Members attending:

No "august meeting, only three members attended : Dottie
Bagley, Inez Morrison_ and Roy Blood. Not enough for a quorum.
Sis lerkirs called in her excuse.
TIBRASIAF' S REPORT
July Report : The circulation record shows an increase
of +12.9='' over the first seven months of FY1975. There were
147 children attending Story Hour. Incoming phone calls were
250, covering general information and reference questions :
195 out going calls for overdue , reserves and Inter Library
loan : 5C reserved books all from our stack: there were 21
Inter Library requests and seven Zerox copies of articles.
`There were several meeting in the month of July, they
are as folT ows :
Legistative Workshop at Richardson Public Library,July 7th.
Continuing Education Committee Meeting at Faltom City
Public Library on July 15th.
Advisory Council meeting at Weatherford Public Library
on July 29th .
Mrs . ' rmstrong announced that the Police Dept . will work
with the library in coil' sting overdue books.
August Report : The circulation record shows an increase
of +12.7 . One Hundred and twenty six children were in attendance
at Story Four this month. Incoming phone calls including reference
and general information were 480. There were 342 outgoing phone
calls for reserves , Inter - ibrary Loan and overdue . There were
55 reserved books out , 23 books and 3 films from the Inter Library
Loan.
Meetings for the month of August were : August ;th,
Communication Skills Workshop at the Irving Library: Miss real
went to the Graham library on the 24th of August for the Film
Committee Fort Worth Resource System.
The Summer Reading Program ended with a Film Festival
^n `'ednesday August 25th. There were over 1C0 Reading Certificates
gil'en out.

COUNCIL FOR SOCIAL CONCERNS - Barbara Zieschang
The Council of Social Concerns had their meeting on
the 30th of August 1976, and the following three projects were
discussed:
1. Education plan, which will consist of Films and
Speakers on specific social problems , mainly for
Junior High School
Chairman of this committee is Rod Hickman
2. Distribution and Collection, consist of centralize
places where churches and agents will have this .
Other agents , for instance the HEB Hospital social
workers , Family Services , School Counselors and
Community Action Centers . There have already been
11 Churches to agree to be r-srt of it . At the present
time , they are looking for facilities for this project.
3. Euless Community Action Center. In charge of this
project is Rick Griffin. The following items are
needed: End tables , lamps , a large mirror 2x3 feet
for the bathroom or smaller.
t this time this project will be for the High
School age . Family participation will be compulsory.
There will be two Doctors who will be directing this
program from the UTA Psychology Department , they
have been invited to attend the September 20th
Social Concerns Meeting.
Their next meeting will. he Monday September 20th at 7: 30.
FORT WORTH MAJOR R:SOU' CE SYSTEM - Barbara Zieschang
Mrs. Zieschang has urge each one of the Library Board
to send letters to all members of the State Legislative Budget
Board and the Governor, to let them know what Libraries mean to
them and urges full f,_nding for the Lih a ry Service in Texas .

The Chairman recommends to Mrs. r?rmstrong to make out
a list for Tibr r.y Board of the non-book services and items .
ADJOURNMENT
No objections forthcoming, the Chairman adjourned the
meeting at 9 :00 PM.
