BOARD OF TRUSTEES
Regular Meeting
July 3 , 1975
CALL TO ORDER
The meeting of the Board of Trustees
of the Euless Public Library was called to order at 7:30
PM in the Fuller Room of the Library. Members attending ,
as follows: Jo Ingram, Dottie Ragley, Roy Blood, Bill McCray,
and Barbara Zieschang. Member absent and excused: Kay Fuller.
Also attending: Mrs. Geneva Armstrong,
Librarian and Mrs. Willie May McCormick, Mayor Pro Tem.
MINUTES TO PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVAL
The June meeting having been canceled due
to lack of quorum, the minutes of the May meeting were
read and approved by the two members present at that meeting.
The Board voted acceptance of the minutes to the May meeting
as written. The motion to accept the minutes was made by
Jo Ingram, seconded by Barbara Zieschang. No objections
forthcoming, the vote tallied as follows:
Ayes: Blood, Ingram, McCray, Ragley and
Zieschang
Nays: None
The minutes were declared passed by the
Secretary, as both Chairman and Vice-Chairman were open
offices.
ELECTION OF OFFICERS
After welcoming our new members and discussion
of the duties and responsibilities of each of the offices
to be filled, a roster was completed for election. The
motion was made by Barbara Zieschang that the following
roster be elected:
Chairman: Roy Blood
Vice-Chairman: Dottie Ragley
Secretary: Barbara Zieschang
Historian: Jo Ingram
The motion was seconded by Bill McCray, and the vote,
as follows:
Ayes: Ingram, Mc^ray, Ragley and Zieschang
Nays : None (Roy Blood abstained)
The motion carried, and the election of officers completed
as listed. Chairman Blood assumed responsibility for
chairing the meeting at this point.
LIBRARIAN'S REPORT
The circulation record shows a decline of
-.78f from the totals of the first nine months of the last
fiscal year. Use of the Library continues to increase as
the Thursday Story Hour receives more publicity. A second
Story Hour on Thursday is scduled to handle the numbers
of children, parents, and a participating nursery school.

The North Texas Educational Agency, having
purchased carrels for the Adult Basic Education Program
has stated that they are out of funds at the present time.
Money is available for purchase of books for the courses,
but )1urehase has been delayed until an instructor is chosen
by the Texas Educational Agency.
The Parks and Recreation Department show
films twice a week in the Fuller Room.
FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY - Dottie Ragley
The FRIENDS had a successful BOOK SALE on
May 9 and 10 at N. E. Mall. Amount raised exceeded x400!
There are 47 members including family memberships , and the
list is still growing. A Board meeting is planned in July
to consider what to buy for the Library. The FRIENDS will
schedule a speaker in the fall, perhaps for the October
General Meeting.

FORT WORTH MAJOR RESOURCE SYSTEM - Barbara Zieschang.
The results of the Texas legislative action
on the funding of the Library Systems Act was not available
at this time.* A meeting of the Council for the Major Re-
Source System will be held on July 17 to consider the program
for FY 1976 in light of the results of the funding bill.
EUJLESS COUNCIL FOR SOCIAL CONCERNS - Barbara Zieschang
On June 18, Robert Cowan and B. Zieschang of
Council for Social Concerns with Glenn Good (Director of
Family Service-Travelers Aid Assoc . ) , Jane Watson (Arlington
Program Director , FS-TAA) and John Tinsley (Chairan of the
Board of Directors , FS-TAA), and Willie May McCormick (Mayor
Pro Tem of Euless City Council) appeared before the Budget
Board of United Way requesting co-funding of a Euless office
of FS-TAA. Approval of this request was voted, and recommenda-
tions were presented by the Budget Board to the Board of
Directors of United Way on June 24. Information was received
by telephone that United Way has approved the funding of the
Euless office, to open by September 1 , for their FY 75 (ending
in January) . Continuation is contingent on favorable reports
* As of July 7, communications from Dorrian Winfrey, TSL,
indicate that the legislature passed and the Governor signed
a bill for total State funding for FY76 (Level I) and FY77
(Level II) . TSL sends gratitude and congratulations to the
many library oriented citizens who contacted their legislators.

as is Euless participation. The office will be located
at 110 Sheppard Drive (1 block west of City Hall) in City
owned and furnished building.
ADJOURNMENT
The motion to adjourn was made by Dottie Ragley
seconded by Jo Ingram. No objections forthcoming, the
Chair declred the meeting adjourned at 8: 50 PM.
